:help: Gastric Bypass and bowel obstructions- anyone know aything??

I had my surgery 3/11/04 and doing really well Lost82 lbs post surgery - then wham - got a horrible ulcer ( knew it was a possibility) and then I just found out that I have a bowel obstruction and have to go back in and have surgery to find the problem, or where the kink is, and what caused it. I do not fit the profile - I'm 37 and have never had children or any kind of female related surgery. There was a reference that I could have a hole ( hernia) in the "suspension" of my intestine and the bowel is kinked in there. Anyone else had this happen and what happened as a result?? My bowel obstruction is in the small intestine with a moderate distension. I'm concerned and yet very bummed about having surgery!

Jacqueline - I don't have any experience with this at all, but I wanted to just show my support here about it. I would be majorly bummed as well. As for being prone to this for female surgeries, etc, I hadn't heard that before, but then I never paid a lot of attention to it. What are your main symptoms with this right now? Are you just not able to "go?" Dina

So sorry that you are having this kind of trouble! Whatever they do, I hope it goes well for you and solves all of the problems with no further complications! Joy (At least there is 82 lbs less of you to drag on those walks now!)

I am also very sorry to hear this, This was something I was deathly afraid of happening to me, I went into have my wls with 2 large hernias, and the doc said he wouldn't fix them till I lost most of my weight, so I always wear a good girdle and pray everyday! Jacqueline, I was wondering, what were your symptoms? Just in case (God forbid) I will have a clue as to what to "feel for" I have been having burning pain in my stomach and "stiches" in my side that feels like something stabbin me. Anything like that? I go see the doc tomorrow about that stuff and my dum ol' dizziness THanks Elizabeth M
