Good Morning Marchers, I was just wondering what you all were doing as far as exercise, I started out walking 3 plus miles 5x a week, I lost 30 pounds the first 14 days after my wls in March, That was so great and I was so happy, and then April came and I was still doing so well, Then May , and I was still pushing hard and following the rules...June was also a good month, July is another story , I started to slip up and only swam 3x a week if I could manage to get out of the house, with 5 kids (3 of mine)(2 of richy's visiting) when it became to Hot to walk I started swimming everyday with the kids, I dont know if it is just me but I have lost my Umph!!!! I Really need to get back into the swing of things and keep drinking my water again like before I dont know if this plateau has gotten me in the dumps or if it is Hormonal thingy going on again??? I was so excited to get out there and do the right thing everyday but I have gotten so lazy these past few weeks ...Is anyone else going through this I wonder, anyone slipping and just not following the rules???? I dont want to Fail at this...I have come to far to let it all slip away.... Whats going on with me? My hair is also falling out bad now, I would usually lose about a quarters worth after a shower now I'm losing 2x that much , and it's starting to worry me. drop me a line and let me know how you all are doing, and how you are doing. Thanks God Bless you all:hugs: Mary

Hi Mary! (((hugs))) I know how you feel! My hormones are completely out of whack. I have gotten my period 3 times this month and am a mess! I am SERIOUSLY stuck on a plateau and am depressed about it. I am eating well and exercising. I take a bite of something every now and then that I am not supposed to but thats all. Nothing big and nothing lately. I am just sick to my stomach because I started a program at the gym here at my work. I work out with arm, leg and stomach weights and weight machines 3 days a week then 2 days a week I use an eliptical machine (glider) that is for cardio. I burned 400 calories 45 minutes yesterday and have been doing so well at the gym and feeling really good. But that "feel good" feeling only lasts a little while then I am exhausted. I have been dizzy and weak. I think I am really low on iron. I see the doctor this friday and hope to find out what my blood test results are. I have been trying to find that out for about a week now. I feel defeated, like I am not going to loose anymore weight and that this is it. I know I shouldn't feel that way but last month was a slooow loss and this month I really hoped to do much much better and there is no change other than going up in pounds and down in pounds like a yo-yo and now I am just stuck at like 258!!! I cant budge! I think I am going to try that stillman diet! I am getting desperate here. I can also tell now that I have been feeling depressed about my slow loss while working so hard at the gym that when I get home I am just moping around feeling lazy and sad. I think that has alot to do with it. I need that scale to move! I sound hee hee. but Im feeling desperate here! I hope you start feeling better Mary! We will get through this phase I'm sure. I guess I need to start thinking positive! God Bless! Elizabeth M 334/258!!!grrr/128

Thanks Elizabeth, I am sure it will all work out in time, I just seem to be so impatient lately...maybe I just have to much time on my hands.... I am also thinking I should start another exercise program , maybe look into going to the gym, do something other than my usuall swimming.... i NEED TO see what it has to offer for me, I may be down in the dumps because I am doing the same thing everyday ... I hope you are feeling better soon, I guess this journey has a bumpy road and we need to stay focused, I will give it my all this week lets see what happens by Friday, hopefullY something will change. GOD BLESS AND STAY HEALTHY HUGZ MARY

I started out ok and have lagged off. I got a dog a month ago and the first 2 weeks walked her twice a day 2 miles each time, once in the early morning and once later in the evening. Now I might walk her once in the evening, my poor dog, she was so used to the schedule now she looks at me in the evening like "mama I want to walk" and I will sit here and go Ok I need to get up and walk and I dream about walking but I just sit there and dont go. Last night around 11 I went for a walk, did 3 miles and even ran for about 10 minutes and it felt sooo good, but here in the Keys it is so hot and humid, just the thought of going outside is a chore! I'm not complaining about the weight I have lost I am only about 22 pounds from my goal of 125, but I havent lost any weight in quite a while. I went to the doctor June 16 and I was 156 and when I went July 23 I was 146 so I lost 10 pounds in a month, but I havent lost anything since then so it has been almost a month since I have lost anything. I keep going up and down the same 3-5 pounds from about 145-148. I'm not eating anything I'm not supposed to but I'm slacking now on the protien and my exercise isnt that great so I know thats why! Plus I started smoking again and I am sooo discusted with myself!!!Uggh I need to get on the ball! ~Nicole

I am glad to know that I am not the only one getting these multiple periods ! I am not even supposed to have one, as I am on Depo Provera... I though something was wrong with me VAL

Ugh.. that is such a myth with the Depo. Lemme tell you about MY experience: I was on the depo for a full course.. meaning one year. In that one year, the first few months I didnt get a period at all. Then I started getting it monthly, like normal. Then I bled for 3 months straight. Depo is also the reason why I had to have WLS.. I GAINED 60lbs while on it. There is nothing wrong with you... its the depo.

For exercise, I walk 3-8 miles a day. I also take water aerobics daily Monday through Saturday and I go to the gym for light weightlifting 2-3 times a week with my mom... I am the anomoly because I work from home so I have more flexibility. As for walking when its hot, purchase Walk Away the Pounds Express (3 or 4 mile ) DVD. You can get it al Walmart or order it from amazon.com It is excellent... I walk to the dvd and burn 120 calories per mile ! It is a cardio exercise, cross training and a walk all in one.... VAL

Hi Mary, I go to Curves at least 3X a week and the other 2 to 3 days walk. Yes I to have gotten a little down in the dumps lately and have cheated a few times. I am trying as hard as I can to stay on track and I saw my doctor last week. He says to make sure and change up the exercise a bit so your body doesnt get settled with what you are doing. Someone on the board told me the more they exercised the faster they lost. So be encouraged, you are not the only one feeling this way. Good Luck, Rhen

Mary - I didn't start exercising until I was a few months out. I was just unmotivated, but looking back I think I was just wiped out. I had some deficiencies that made me extremely weak....I just couldn't imagine walking. Once we got started, my friend and I were walking about 1.5 miles a day, but my energy issues remained to a degree and at times I would be wiped out that I would feel like I was going to collapse by the time I got home. Just recently I have started to feel increased energy and feel like I could maybe double the walk, but my friend I'm not sure can spare the time in the morning. Now with my cycle problems I'm weak again. I'm also not really great about following through even though I should. If my friend cancels on me, I generally skip my exercise. But I also have started swimming a lot this year (I have a pretty good tan for a really really white girl!). I try to do some aerobics when I get in the pool too. I think as the weather cools and I can walk any time of the day or night I will increase my walking. I am not fond of the heat, and even at 7am it gets pretty toasty here in the dead of summer. Dina
