All my doctor has dictated is a multi vitamin and calcium. He recommends Flintstones to start (and I am still using those) and TUMS for the calcium. I am not having any problems.

Hi there... Flinstones should only be taken for the first month. Thereafter, you need a water soluble, laboratory strength vitamin formulated for adults. I would suggest taking One Source Women's or One Source Prenatal Vitamins twice a day. You can pick that up at Walmart. Also, Tums is only good for the first month. Thereafter you need Calcium CITRATE... Tums is calcium CARBONATE which is in the multivitamin you would take... Citrical is a great citrate and easy to find in any drug store... take 2 per day... Another vitamin you may want to consider is Biotin. I take 5000mcgs per day. It is a metabolic aid that aids in the digestion protein, fats and carbs... it is also great for hair and nails... VAL

Hi Val - I take Optisource which is a chewable multivitamin formulated for post-bariatric surgery and I also take an iron supplement. If you are interested you can order Optisource from Walgreens online. I take that because it seems to be the easiest for my body to take and absorb, as well as is very balanced with high levels of B vitamins but normal levels of the vitamins that we can still absorb just fine. The taste is good and I haven't tired of it yet and at my last checkup the only thing I was low on was iron so we added an iron supplement. Lissa

Hi Everyone, I take a liquid multivitamin (vitamin shoppe brand) made for best absorbtion. Liquid b-12 viactive calcium chews (caramel - yum!) Natures Made Chewable Iron w/vitamin c for absorbtion. Can we take calcium and iron together? Im so confused...I was keeping them far apart (which can be a pain) is it alright to take them close together? ooo.. gotta find that biotin ... my nails are terrible...so's my hair! Thanks Elizabeth M

My DOC suggests a children's chewable 2x a day but I couldn't gag those down so I am now on a regular multivitamin (the walmart brand) B-12 under the tongue B complex (this one was because my B-12 numbers were a tad low at 3months) Biotin and those viactive chews YUMMY! ( I pretend its candy and I am happy!) My sis who is a year post op still takes the flintstones and her numbers have always been in the middle of the range so she is happy! Nic 291/209/150
