Slow losers out there?
Hi--
Just read the weight totals and most of you are doing fantastic and have lost a lot. I am one of the slow losers...(why am I not surprised? Story of my dieting life!) but I am happy with where I am and if I never lost another pound in my life, I would say it was worth it.
In 4.5 months I have lost 45 pounds with 25 to go to goal. 23 of those pounds were the first month, so you can see it has slowed down.
I am trying all protein, lots of water and doubling up on my walking to twice a day to break this plateau I have been on for the past 3 weeks.
My question, are there any other slow losers and have you had any luck with busting plateaus....I am going on a cruise in a month, so I am more conscious of it now, after that I really have no time constraints and have heard that we will continue to lose up to 2 yrs.

I don't think I am a slow loser but I am on a plateu right now. I am trying to go back to all protein and see if that will kick start it. But so far I still manage to eat enough carbs to keep me from going into ketosis. Not really bad carbs but I did have a slice of bread yesterday and some salad. So far I have lost 85lbs though so I am not complaining but I would like to lose more than the lb a week that I seem to be doing the last few weeks.
Hi we shared the same wls date
and I am right there with you , as in slow loser this month! I cant officially weigh in because I only weigh on the dr's scale , next date is in Sept.
But I can tell from the way I am feeling I am at a stand still if not, losing very slow this month
I know it has alot to do with the bread I am eating , I get so angry with myself because I should have never tasted that darn bread again....This is what has made me Overweight to begin with!
I am also going to start only protien n veggies again, I also need to start drinking my water faithfully again, It just wasnt making me feel well , I also must stay carb free like I did in the beginning! Lets see what happens! I am a woman on a mission!!!! drop me a line and let me know how your all doing..
God Bless and stay healthy!

Yea, LaRhonda, I know that and that is true and fine, but even among the lightweights I have talked to I am slower. But percentage wise I am in the right range so like I said, I am happy but because of my goal for the cruise I guess I just felt like I could have done better. I was sure I would have been down 60 lbs at 6 months, but now I will be happy with 50.

Sally -
Just call me "Pokey". I'm moving really slow, but I only have myself (OK, and my metabolism) to blame. I really need to get back to basics and get more protein and H20 in me. I've been eating pure crap because it's easier on my pouch (I know - bad excuse!). If I eat good for me stuff, my pouch retaliates and I usually yak. If I eat crap, like chips, cookies, etc., my pouch loves me. It's awful. I've not been feeling all that perky for a while due to anemia, but we think we got that fixed and I'm hoping to get some energy in me soon so I can really start excersing. My other excuse is that I had VBG and us VBG-ers lose slower than other types of surgery. I ran into a friend that had adjustable lap banding a couple of years ago and she told me that it took her the whole 2 years to really lose all her excess weight. That gave me hope! I started out at 317 and am now 279 (as of last week when I got back from vacation). I try not to get on the scales too often because I tend to become obsessed with numbers. I did, however, go jeans shopping today, and I've finally dropped 2 sizes. I was stuck at 26 for so long - now 24's are too big and I can get into a 22 (with a little room to breathe!).
I'm going on vacation in September w/ my hubby, so I'm hoping to lose more before we go. I'd like it to be a memorable vacation (other than being embarrassed that I can't fit into an airplane seat!).
Anyway - hang in there. And know that you're not alone!

I know how frustrating it can be and if junk food feels better than "good" food that can be rough. I seem to be able to eat anything too, so therefore have to watch it....I wish I would react badly to sweets and fat but I don't. I can actually eat more than most people too...so I have learn to "stop".....on the positive side, I am healthy now, feel great and am still losing even if slow.
I just started the Stillman diet which is good to bust plateaus and it is working....all protein...and lots and lots of water.
Good luck to you too....my friend at work at lap banding and she is going kind of slow too but steady.

Hi Sally,
I too am a slow loser--my surgery was 3-18 and I have lost just 57-58lbs and I have been holding for over a month. No change. I have shifted food, increased water, and increased walking. Tonight I hit the gym for
25 minutes..I am hoping it will help. I am still eating small amounts, but a little of everything i want. No sweets, minimum carbs.....shakes make me ill at this point. I have 42 pounds to go..needed to lose 100 on the dot.. I go from hopeful to a fear I will be stuck here forever....I congratulate u on trying Stillman--food tastes too good to me right now-especially smells. Terry
