Stomach Burning Anyone?

Burning Pain Anyone? Just wondering, I have been getting this burning feeling in my lower abdomen area... right above my belly button. Its strange its the exact feeling I use to get when I knew I was stressing about something and my stomach was irritated. Just like the burning pain of an ulcer. I was wondering where the heck is our old stomach sitting? I never thought to ask the doc about that. Is it sitting a bit lower in the tummy? Anyway I forgot to tell the doc about the burning in my belly. I will call him to let him know but I was just curious if anyone else felt this sensation. I usually take some tums and it helps but it really does feel like an irritated stomach but instead a bit lower than usual. Elizabeth M

Elizabeth, Hey!! I was told that our old stomach was off to the left down a bit from it's orginal local, between our rib cage and waistline. Now it's to the left just above the belly button, but deeper inside. Right where your pain is I think. Hmmm.....if it's intense I'd sure let your doc know about it. I haven't had burning, but for about the last month - after eating a meal - I have been getting a "stitch" in my side (Remember when you were a kid and you ran hard and got that pain in your side? That feeling!) It seems to be triggered by my fullness and I wonder if my pouch (or something else?) is pressing on my left side from within because of my fullness. It's strange and it doesn't even happen with every single meal. When it does happen, it takes me a half hour or so to really be able to take more than a few steps without having to stop from pain. There is no evidence whatsoever of a hernia - nothing pushing its way out, no at-site bruising or anything. It doesn't seem serious enough at this point to cause worry, but I will mention it at my next appointment. Anyone else having this? Jenny

I was told the tummy is located higher up right between the rib cage. Maybe it depends on how the doctor does the surgery???? Not sure about that. When it comes to the burning... I was told that burning can be anything from being hungry to a form of an infection. I would be sure to tell your doc about it. Hope all is well! Sheila - Post Op March 1 - 102 pounds lost to date

Hi, Elizabeth.... I have just joined this list and am reviewing some of the messages from the March '04 list. I have had the same burning pain sensation for months now. I had an egd done last week and they found a stomach ulcer. It is located right where the stomach and intestine meet. The pain has always eased up when I take prevacid. The dr. has me on a prevapac now: 1 prevacid, one biaxin, 2 trimox, twice a day. I'll be taking that for 2 weeks and then just prevacid for 2 more weeks. Then he will do another egd to see if things have improved. Please let us know what your dr. says and let us know how you're doing. Sandra W.
