Exercise ?!?
Anyone have some ideas on how to get back into the groove with exercise? I started out walking the week after surgery, a little less then a mile 2 - 3 times per week. I increased to about 2 miles regularly 2 times per week, sometimes 3. I took a summer course in June and was so busy that exercise was the last thing I wanted to do. Now I've totally lost my way.
Funny thing is that I feel great, a little bored sometimes, when I'm doing it and feel great afterwards. I know my body likes to exercise. Engaging the mind and keeping up the motivation to get out there is my problem though.
I appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Barbara,
Nike always had the best advertising a "JUST DO IT".
I have never liked to exercise... if I did maybe I would have never needed this surgery. (but that is another story)
But now I hit my Ladies fitness 3 times a week! I feel great after and I still have trouble getting there. But I make it convientent for myself.... I leave Gym clothes right in my car, I find time in my schedule and i tell other people I am going, that way i know that I have to hold myself accountable.
Now I am down 121 Lbs. And I think my rapid weight loss has a lot to do with me sweating away those pounds. Best wishes I hope that I helped some what. Just keep thinking about how good you feel afterwards.

I find that I often have to push myself to exercise - I find it a bit like a chore I have to do each day. That being said, I do push and aim to walk about 30-40 minutes 6x/week. I either get up early and walk before work or do it on my lunch hour when the weather cooperates. I think the best way to get back into it is to just tell yourself you will walk for 5-10 minutes to start - then if you feel like it, do more - You can easily fit 10 minutes into your day -- then when you feel you are doing that okay, increase to 12-15 minutes and so on - Don't feel like you have to do 2 or 3 miles to start out or even ever - I also try to walk a flight or two of stairs when I get a chance rather than taking the elevator - I also incorporate exercise into my weekend "playtime" - a nice walk in the woods is fun and my boyfriend really likes walking and swimming -
Good luck!

Me too! I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. When I don't exercise I hate the way I fell so sluggish. But when I do exercise Oh I love the way I feel. So after some debate I am going too try to go back to the gym on Monday. I will be going out of town this weekend. Or it will be today. Good luck!
