Has anybody swallowed gum?
Just wonderin' . . .
I have assumed it would be a BAD thing to swallow chewing gum and have been really good about not doing that. This morning, in church, I got up to do a solo and realized I had gum and couldn't hardly reach in and take it out in front of EVERYBODY, so I just swallowed it. I couldn't even concentrate on my song for wondering what that gum was going to do to my pouch. It's been over six hours, so I guess if it was going to bother me - it would have by now.

Thanks for your replies and concerns. I am almost 24 hours post-swallow so I guess I am going to make it. I don't remember being told not to have gum, so I'll ask next time I see doc. That does make sense, about the air and blockage, though. I honestly had planned to NEVER swallow gum again . . . .

My Doc lets me have gum. He just says don't swallow. And if we do it accidentally...to drink something hot..like tea or coffee...to help melt the gum so it doesn't plug the outlet.
The worst that will happen is food won't go down and you'll throw up.
You'll have an endoscopy done...and they'll pull it out.
If you are eating fine and getting your fluids down..I'd say it's already passed you by!
Good luck!
