Net Carbs vs Total Carbs?

This question goes out to anyone in the know. When considering low carb foods, are those of us that have had the gastric bypass surgery supposed to buy things low in total carbs or low in Net Carbs or Impact Carbs. If the goal is to not raise blood sugars by eating carbs then I am thinking it is net carbs we are looking at. Anyone with any info on the subject, please reply or send me an e-mail. Thanks, Jennifer

I have heard that we still go by the Net Carbs calculation, even though we've had WLS. Fiber is a still a good carb for us, and it is subtracted from total carbs during the Net Carbs calculation.

Many packages subtract sugar alcohols. While those do act slower on the blood sugar, they do affect people differently. I tend to count them as 1/2 carb each, but subtract all the fiber. I figure they are only half as bad as sugar/flour carbs. You will find what works... Joy
