I'M SO SORRY!
I have been SOOOO sick! Started with a cold, went into my lungs, nasty virus in CT that is attacking the lungs and resistant to standard treatments. Am just now feeling better and getting back to our beloved board. MARILYN - best of luck on your new and wonderful journey! Can't wait to hear how you are settling in; the miracle of life is that there's always something new to look forward to...new places to see, new people to fall in love with, on and on and on...PAM, I hope your doctor has checked your lungs thoroughly. I want to hear that you are bouncing back from this. KAREN, you take the prize this year for courage in the face of tremendous adversity; I am SO PROUD OF YOU! Stories like yours get me out of my head and remind me that no matter what, all things are possible. Thanks for taking the lead of this wonderful group, keeping us Marchers marching forward. JEN - I can't tell you what it means to me to have you back regularly. It's as if the sun has come out again after a long, dark absence. I don't know about Ken and Mike, I miss them both terribly. I'm back, holding steady in the mid-140s with my weight but everything is shifting, heading south -- bummer but hey, I can move my sagging butt and that's a GOOD thing! CT i**** right now with a messy flu thing that does not go away. My lungs and brocule tubes are fine. Its jsut that nasty flu. I tell ya I willnot take that perscription again it was horrible. the only good thing was all those lovely men in uniforms coming for me with the ambulance! I wish I had dressed better. Dam we never realize how important it is until soemthing like that happens. of course we never plan to call 911. If I had planned I would have put on my blunging neckline with the push up bra dapped on alittle lipstick. I was thankful that I had cleaned the condo!
I kept croaking out I've had gastric bypass. I dont' remember why but I knew we had to let them know. Made me do some research for one of those bracelets.
My son was very sick with the flu too he ended up with his lungs filled and went on a perscription weeks ago then after he finished that he got it in his bronculi tubes more meds after those went back in the the lungs! he's had so many xrays he lights up at night. what scared me was when they found a spot on his lung. they thought it was TB!!!!! It wasn't but he has an abcess on his lung now and has to take mega meds. it has gotten smaller already. whew.
I couldnt get over how quickly within 5 minutes of taking that pill the reaction was so quick and voilent. my lips swelled up like angilina joley but didn't look as good on me. then my face was swollen i couldn't breath and could only croak words out. when they got me in the ambulance which was here with 5 minutes i couldnt talk. they poked stabbed and slapped some oxygen on my nose. ahhhhhhhhh
they knew i was better at the ER (i diid't see dr mcdreamy) when the tech said we did this to this older woman and i croaked Hey I heard that!

I am so glad that you and Pam are better!!! I have asthma and know the horror of not being able to breathe all too well. I also had an unexpected drug reaction! I was at a two day tax conference away from home and had a bad sinus infection. Before I departed home, I went to our local Docs on Call and got an Rx for Augmentin so I could get a jump start on my treatment. I have been so bad about waiting until the sinus infections get out of hand and then they are so hard to get rid of, so this time, at my husband's suggestion, I went to the doctor before leaving town. I took the medication right before bedtime and two hours later (1 am), awoke to violent itching, swelling and my tongue and throat started to close up. I only had some Allegra on me, I took it, and nothing. I had to hurry up and get dressed, called the front desk and told them I needed an ambulance. I had drank almost a bottle of wine earlier that night (pre-sobriety!) and wondered if that contributed to the reaction. Anyway, they rushed me to the Medical College of Virginia and they gave me Benedril and, of all things, Pepsid, to counter the reaction. I had no idea that the drug in Pepsid also helps to reduce allergic reactions. Anyway, two hours later, the security guard at the hospital drove me back to my hotel and I got back in bed at 3:30 am! I have taken Augmentin before and never had any trouble.... Anyway, I needed to take more Benedril the next day and the nearest drug store was 11 blocks away. The Manager at the Marriott had his airport bus driver drive me to the drug store in the bus while he waited in the parking lot until I bought the chewable children's Benedril. Then he drove me back to the hotel. They were so incredible. so, Pam, I can really sympathize with your experience. I guess we all need to carry Benedril with us wherever we go!
I am still sober, Thank the Lord! I was really tested last week. A fellow employee had an Open House last Friday night and when I walked in the door, she handed me an empty wine glass and asked me if I wanted red or white. Eveyone else had a drink in hand and were ready to party!!! I gulped and said, "Water, please!" I was so proud of myself!!! They don't know about my drinking issues. I will be one month sober this week. Thanks again for all the support and for not judging me for this horrible addiction problem I have. I am so ashamed. But I will overcome it. And this time without cross-addicting to some other bad habit!
