Sober and Smiling

Hi Ya'll! I am still here, sober three and a half weeks now, and much happier! The pull of alcohol physically is gone. Now I just have to deal with the mental addiction! I am still attending AA daily and learning so much about this disease. There are other WLSers in a few of the meetings, too. I went to the doctor's today for my six month checkup and my blood pressure is up to 150/100 so I'm back on meds.....she also tested for cholesterol, Vitamin D, Vitamin B-12, Folate, Iron, PTH function, Liver panel, CBC, Ferritan and Blood Chemistry (electrolytes, etc.). My Vitamin D was dangerously low back in October and i have been on 50,000 units since then. I go back to the endocronologist next week to see if my levels have risen. Low Vitamin D means no calcium absorption=osteoporosis. It is becoming VERY common in bariatric patients farther out than 2 years so be sure you are having your levels checked! I guess it's back to exercise again! Thank the Lord my weight is the same as it has been for two years. I started out at 320 and now weigh 206. I can eat most anything I want and not gain or lose, so I am fine. AND ALCOHOL FREE!!!!!!!!!!WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Hugs and Smiles, Karen

It was good to hear from yiou Karen and to know that your doing so great with AA. The blood levels can be crazy sometimes and change so quickly too. thank you for reminding me to get that D one checked.

Thanks for the Check-in Karen, at least you are reading these posts. I will have to wait to find out about the others till i get to San Diego, I guess. They don't seem to want to come out of hiding & that worries me, but, I have enough to worry about without them. So Hang Tough my friend & I will too!! Love you & all (last post for awhile) Marilyn, the Bearlady
