So, Jillian (my 16 year old) and I are driving home from grocery shoppiing, just chatting away, when she says out of the blue...."Mom, put your tilt wheel down." I said, "Jillian, I'm driving. I can't fumble with that right now." She says, "Mom, put your tilt wheel down. Don't think about it, just do it." I was terrified to try. I have NEVER in my adult life been able to drive a car without a tilt wheel totally engaged. I hesitated. "Mom, do it", she urged. So, with the greatest hesitation I have ever felt in my life, I disengaged the tilt wheel. It came thudding down into its position, just over my lap. I could hardly breathe for fear that the wheel would get stuck while I was trying to steer. I looked down. There was room to spare! My steering wheel was in its normal position and there was actually room between my belly and it! I screamed, "I don't need a tilt wheel anymore!!" Jillian was beaming. Really, she's never looked lovlier to me. She took my hand and squeezed it hard. She didn't need to say the words. I felt how proud she was of me. It was a WLS moment that I simply had to share with you. Maureen

The tilt wheel happened to me recently. Now I can see over the dashboard with the wheel down! YAY! And my 6 year old son is so proud to show me off. A neighbor kid came over recently and my son said "Look at my mom...she's getting skinny!" What bugs me is my mom and sister are always saying "Your clothes are too big!" All I can reply with is "Give me money and I'll go shopping!" This is great! Karel

This one brought tears to my eyes. Not just for your accomplishment, but for your daughter and her support and excitement for you. Life is wonderful (didn't say that too often pre-op. Now I'm saying that a lot!!) mgm -53

Maureen, That's so wonderful. I'm finding that it's the little wonders of weight loss that bring me the greatest joy. Jillian must be so proud of you. I know I am. Hugs, Connie
