Hi Maureen, I am glad you asked these questions. I have been wondering the same things. I am down about 50-53 lbs. I was stuck on at least a 3 wk plateau and figured it was my protein intake. So I started double scooping my protein shakes and my weight dropped almost immediatey. I was walking on a regular basis before I went back to work. My sister and I would go every morning, now I dont take the time to do it. I have also been feeling very tired lately. Most days I get in my 8 glasses of water a day, but I am having trouble with water weight gain also (and hate taking in to much water). As for things I have noticed, I am happy to report that I can tie my shoes!!! My size 24's from last summer are much bigger. I had grown out of them and didnt by any new clothes after that. I havent even tried on anything new because I am afraid my size will still be 22/24, but my clothes are fitting really loose. As for eating I am trying to eat mostly protein. I like baked chicked and shrimp. I usually dont have to much trouble getting those down. I try to eat those w/some steamed broccili or cauliflower. I hope this helps, Kristina

Hello, I had lap RNY on 3-8 and have lost 51lbs since surgery. I am down almost 100lbs from my highest weight because I lost 47lbs before sugery. I have done pretty well getting enough water & protein. My doctor's recomendation is to get 48oz of liquids per day and 80 grams of protein. I make protein shakes most days and when I don't want a shake, I drink the bottled protein drinks that are kind of like flavored waters. I need variety, I get so tired of the same thing all the time. My biggest struggle has been with preparing food. 99% of the time, I just have no interest in cooking, but the dietician is always telling me not to eat to much prepackaged foods. I have been working hard on this. One solution I have found is to get invited over to friends' houses for dinner and let them cook for me I exercise 5 days a week, 30 minutes per day. I am lucky that we have a gym where I work so I go get on the treadmill or recumbant bike on my breaks. 15mins per session, one in the morning & once in the afternoon. I feel great when I get done... a little "noodle-legged", but great! Last weekend I cleaned out my closet and bagged up all my size 30/32 clothes. They are just way to big now. I look like a clown in those pants, and just a few months ago they were tight! Luckily, I have some 26/28 & 22/24 items that I can wear. All those years of yo-yo dieting have left me with many different clothing sizes in my closet. Years ago my step-dad and my aunt had the surgery and they have lost so much weight and are doing so great, but for years I was afraid to do this. I guess I just wasn't ready before, but now that I have had the WLS and started my new life I am so happy. This was definately the right thing for me to do. Melissa 385/287/160
