OT California Fires

Hi! A couple of ya'll mentioned the fires in an older post so I thought I'd give you a bit of news about them. From my front porch yesterday I watched an area burn. I couldn't see the actual flames but there was a lot of heavy smoke. One of my kids lives about 7 miles from me and basically we were situated at right angles to the same fire, only he could see the flames. The fires aren't really close to me but depending on the time of day and the winds we can see three smoke plumes from the driveway. Pendleton, Cerritos (no where near Cerritos!) and Temecula. I don't know how far Pendleton is from here but the Cerritos fire is about 10 miles West of me and the Temecula fire is about 30 miles South of me. Pendleton is kinda between them but at a greater distance. We have had ashes, thankfully not hot, dropping in our yard for days and the sun slanting across our front porch has a sickly yellow glow to it, at least it did yesterday and today I mostly stayed inside because I'm supposed to be on bed rest. Funny I'm leaving for an Arizona trip on Friday and hafta really clean the house since the realtor will be showing it in our absence.... sounds like A LOT of bed rest is gonna happen huh?! Any way I thought that everything that could burn did burn the last time we had wildfires, I guess I thought wrong huh? We have rotten air quality and it screws with my asthma something fierce.... but people are losing everything they have ever worked for, their very homes and foundations of their lives and here I am being selfish complaining about something an inhaler will cure.... sometimes I don't like me! They say on the news that we are seeing conditions that we don't normally see until July, it scares me to think of what July will be like! Well, that's it, just thought I'd drop a line about the fires. Love and Hugs, Gayle

Boy that brings back bad memories of our wildfires in the last couple of years. 2 years ago it was pretty much like you describe there. Somewhere I have pictures of the thick haze and the nicotine stained fuschia sun. Ewww! I don't even have asthma, but boy I had respiratory problems from it. I don't envy you at all! Hopefully they will get control of the fire soon. Ours went on for months here. In fact, I think it set some sort of record for square acres burned. I don't recall exactly what now, but I know for sure it was well over 500,000 acres. Dina
