What the???? I am five weeks post op, and haven't lost an ounce since last thursday. Is this normal? Should I be hitting a plateau already? I have a long way to go to get to where I need to be. Just wondering! Tammy 373/340/160?

Are you keeping track of your carbs vs protein ratio. You should still be getting 2 to 3 times as many grams of protein as you are ingesting of carbs. Carbs are your enemy and pile up fast if you're not counting them. Happy thoughts, Va

Tammy, Thats about the same time frame I had my first plateau, it lasted about a week. I just upped my protein and exercise and it started again. Remember the plateaus are normal. I had another one that lasted about 4 or 5 days just recently but now I am moving in the right direction again. You do have to make sure you get enough protein and exercise, and watch those nasty carbs, they maybe yummy, but they are a losers worset enemy!!!!! Hang in there the scale will move again!! Janelle

Thanks so much for all the encouragment! It's a bummer when you're sailing along, losing a pound a day, then all of a sudden, wham! Nothing for a week!! LOL.

I;m president of that club but you can be sec/treasurer, okay? I have been stuck for about a week and I am ready to chuck the scales out the door. I also have a long way and it's truly depressing when I read how much others have lost in a shorter time. I wanna scream...but... I am 38 pounds less than before surgery and my heart palps have cleared up. I can't complain and I thank God for these small blessings.

Hi Wendy, I had surgery the same day as you and am having the same problem. I have been stuck at -34 pounds for about 2.5 weeks. I posted on the main board to get some ideas on busting this plateau so I am waiting to see what ideas everyone has. Yesterday I took in: 654 calories 77g protein 49% 27 grams carbs 13% 26 grams fat 38% I drank about 70oz in water/koolaid/crystal light So am I doing things right???? I average between 600 and 850 calories a day with the percentages at +/- 5% Aristea

Julia, I went through a small plateau at 3 weeks and again at 6 weeks. It might be a pattern. I only lost a lb during week 6. I started going to a fitness club and my trainer said that if I don't eat enough, my metabolism will stop and it will be hard to lose the weight. She told me to eat 4-5 times a day...I chose 4. She also said to have my meals every 3 hours. She and my nutritionist believe in balance diets. I try to start out with protein for the first two meals and then I have whatever else I want. I'm really enjoying fresh pineapple and watermelon right now. I'm not great at getting in the fluids. I think the fruit helps some with that. Anyway, when I started eating every 3 hours...I started losing weight. I'm not sure if that's what caused it, or if my plateau was over???? I can tell ya that the all protein doesn't work for me. I just can't get in enough calories that way. At this point, I'm needing the calories to keep my metabolism going. Dena
