I called the surgeon what he said....
I have posted a few times today about the problems that I'm having with my food intake. (Food problems and an S.O.S.) I called my surgeon. It's not so much the food problem that's concerned me so much. I have had a terrible pain behind (inside) my old scar from when my gall bladder was taken out in 1992. I was thinking that it might be the old scar tissue stretching with weight loss. My doc says that's a possibility but in light of my vomiting problem he seems to think that what I have may actually be a partial blockage. He told me that I need to drink the tenderizer in a kind of tea and that I need to go back to liquids. He says that the mst soid food I can have is cottage cheese. As he's saying this I'm thinking "How much cottage cheese do I have?" because I'm so not looking forward to liquids again! I have the fluids for a week and then an appointment with him that day. He'll tell me what I need to do from there. He did tell me that if this pain gets any worse to go to an emergency room. I would attempt to go there but there are wild fires between me and him. Not a drive I wanna make right now. It's like that old saying, one step forward and two steps back.
Just thought I'd let ya'll know what he said.
I hope everything turns out wll for you.
Just a little FYI, my brother was just called up for the fires out there. He is with the forest service and fights fires during the wonderful wild fire season. Your in good hands with him. I do worry about him, because of the dangers of the fires, but he is a big one on being safe. I will tell his wife when i talk to her to tell him when he calls home that he has to do a good job protecting your area.
Gayle, at least you have some answers as to how you've been feeling! Take good care of yourself this week and, as unpleasant as these next few days may be for you, in just a little while you'll be feeling so much better! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire community through this fire season. God bless and be well, Maureen
Meat tenderizer is on hand at my house, too. It is on my doctor's list for when this happens. I also had a blockage but was out on a boat when it happened -- no tenderizer in sight. I did vomit it up and then was better though with soreness and had to drop back to liquids for a while, too.
Please let us know how you're doing. I was very uncomfortable and kind of alarmed, so I sympathize with how you are feeling. Chicken was the culprit for me.
