What are your problem foods?

I recall reading somewhere on OH where someone had a problem with an orange as the membrane got stuck in their stoma, so they avoid them like the plague. I haven't had but a small segment that was removed from the membrane because of that! But then I read on someone's fitday journal that he eats an orange every day. It got me to thinking about how some people have problems with certain foods and some do not. I thought it might be interesting to compare the differences if you all are game! Here are my problem foods as of late: Atkins low-carb cereal (fiber, I think) Low-carb Orowheat bread (fiber again) Eggo Waffle My theme is fiber and carbohydrates. I haven't had problem with regular bread though (I have 1 slice a day with a sandwich). So far I haven't had any problems with meats, but I avoid anything tough and I chew really really well. But that doesn't seem to help with the fiber. I hucked only once (on Atkins cereal) but I could see I was a good chewer! So what are your problem foods??? Dina

Oh wow - you just reminded me that I had a problem with vegetarian sausage a couple times as well. And Crystal Light makes me poo too! But I don't mind it as it's not a true dumping situation...just loosens things up! Dina

Hey Dinka Have you tried the benefiber?? It's great. Mixes in water and u don't even taste it. I was amazed. It's an easy way to get your fiber in. Shelly

Actually I'm not in need of fiber really, I just was eating those things because they are low-carb! Dina

My problem foods are Ham eggs beef roast shrimp sausage club crakers most meats. I am scared about trying foods at this point, because i so easy. I stick to sugar free jellos, sugar free popcicles, and sugar free pudding and try mixing protien powder with it (hard to get that down) and chicken broth. I love the water, and the AquaCal water. I have tried fat free pringles, and they are ok. I like taking nachos (about 5 of them chips) and put a dab of salsa on tem and some low fat cheese and pop it in the micro wave and nuke it for 60 seconds and eat that. I have stayed away from pastas, and avoid rice and bread, because i am trying my hardest to stay away from carbs. I am so scared of failing at this, i think that may be my biggest problem, and maybe thats why i :barf": i think i have a mindset that i shouldn't have something, and i mentally might be making myself sick. That is just my theroy.

Well, most of what you are chucking on is protein, so if you do think it's a psychological response, maybe you should rethink it. I happen to be inclined to think you might just not be stomaching them well for now. You might try making some cream of wheat with some Carb Countdown milk - it will get you some substance and protein together. Also, I find Chicken Vienna Sausages go down really easy - might give those a try. You might give the recipe I posted earlier this week a try. It's basically like a custard, but it's called Mock Cheese Danish. Just beat one egg, add 3 oz of cream cheese (I used fat free Philly which was pretty good, but a dash of regular might make it better ), 2-3 packets of sweetener like Splenda or Equal, a dash of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon. Mix this up smooth and put in the microwave in a custard dish for 90 seconds. It will be liquidy in the middle and you can mix it up a little and cook 10 seconds longer if you like. You want it on the moist side though...that's the cream cheese that makes it saucey. Anyway, it tastes wonderful and goes down really easy for me at least. Good luck! Dina

My big concern is that nothing is a problem. So far I can eat whatever I try and feel fine. I even eat popcorn. I have not tried more than a tiny bite or two of a cake or pie but all else goes down as if I did not have surgery. Let me tell you - it's a worry. Louise -28

I have eaten popcorn, but only because I was able to determine that a cup was only like 35 calories and not too high in carbs. I considered it a nice little treat. As for little bites of carby things, I have had those too with no problem, but I know if I ate more, I'd be in trouble. I had a couple bites of my son's french toast and it was fine. But if I tried drinking with it or ate more, I'd be in trouble. I think stopping at a couple bites is the key when eating what you shouldn't. Dina

So far I have gotten sick on NOTHING! I feel like I did not even have surgery. Maybe they poked holes in me and then sat around talking until the required 1 1/2 hours for the surgery. I have not tried anything with sugar yet, I am afraid to as I have not gotten sick yet and I am scared that I won't get sick on the sugar then I will have a really bad problem. Leslie
