Scared Now
I just ate some carb control yogurt 4oz and wolfed it down (experimenting) how fast I can eat and how full I would feel. I do feel sorta full but not like I think I should and I noticed my gut started gurgling like almost right away like it was draining as I was eating. Although it is probably cuz it was so smooth and almost liquidy...just wondering is anyone else afraid that their food is draining too quickly or that they can eat more than they should? I must have a 4 oz pouch already for sure! - Here is something scary that freaked me out yesterday when I read it. There are some "failed" surgeries that the part connecting the top and the bottom of the pouch is too big and the food really does drain right out and since the intestines can hold more food more food can be eaten. (that can be diagnosed by the doctor by getting an endoscopy) but scary stuff!
I have to stop.

First, yogurt is on the liquid diet for a reason! There is no substantial bulk to it so it will pass through the tummy just like a thick liquid, so that is not a test of the size of your pouch. My surgeon doesn't even really validate the cottage cheese test unless you use a large curd because of the same reason.
Now, I get the gurlging on occasion when I gulp, use a straw or eat too fast. I think its air trying to figure out where it should be in the pouch and trying to work it way up.
There are some surgeries, like you say, where the stoma is too large. It isn't the end of the road though -- you still have to use this as a tool and even in those surgeries weight loss is a very real thing. Eat slowly, stop when satisfied -- isn't that the mantra of every diet? Its the mantra of this change of life as well. If you try to pu**** -- you'll be able to and eventually could end up right back where you started -- that would scare me more than the size of my pouch!
Stay positive!!!!

Well, it's already been said, but I'll reiterate it: Yogurt is basically like a liquid. It will go through without you batting an eyelash. I have a 4 oz pouch and can eat a whole 8 oz container of yogurt. In fact, I had a 6 oz container of FF/SF yogurt last night with a little cottage cheese.
Don't sweat the stoma - I would not start worrying unless you stop losing for a month and feel like you eat way too much of solids. Good thing about yogurt is you can eat a lot of it without using up too many calories. At least the FF/SF stuff you can.

Hi,
Yeah I understand it was liquidy and also eat slowly (normally) just was messing around this morning to see if i could fill it with the yogurt...but no cuz it oozed out.
But seriously when I do eat like...chicken and such (and i do eat that type of stuff slow because it hurts if i dont) I still have the gurgle...hope its like you mentioned and is just gas bubbles talking. I feel like I can eat alot like 4 oz and in 2 months that seems like alot to me. Maybe it isnt though. Your right I just have to stay positive. I am going to really watch today what I eat. I usually eat 750-850 calories a day. Do you think thats alot? Havent lost for at least 8 days
I hate plateaus!!! Thanks for the replies!!! Best Wishes

That's not a long time for a plateau....I was on a plateau for over a week and a half after my first 2 weeks!
I think the thing is, our pouches don't just suddenly expand at 6 months to a fuller capacity. It may seem like a leap around that time, but I do believe it slowly expands over time. I started out with a 4 oz pouch and may actually have a 5 oz pouch at this time. I don't worry about it now though. I finally reconciled what I was eating is small enough to lose weight with or without the surgery. Sometimes our bodies just need to catch up.
This morning I am having 2 fried eggs and a piece of low-carb toast for breakfast. I've eaten maybe 1/2 an eggs worth and a couple bites of toast. I'm afraid it will stick (had an episode yesterday with high fiber cereal) so I'm going slow. But the thing is, even though I'm not full, I am feeling "done." I think this will probably be the case with many of us as time goes on. Before I think I was just so hungry I couldn't go without eating to a full stomach, but now I feel like I can a lot easier. Maybe it's just that we're getting the feeling back in our pouches now...

Yeah you are right. I just had lunch it was about 1/2 cup of seafood salad with red pinto beans and little turkey cubes and about 1 tbsp of shredded cheese and 2 cherry tomatoes (all equaling 1/2 cup) I dont think 1/2 cup (if that) is that much I do feel full. I guess I was just panicking
man those cherry tomatoes pack a nice flavor punch! never was that into them before. Isnt it amazing how not having sugar for so long has really led us to truly "taste" our food now? Ive noticed that. i notice with my husband i tasted this little pudding and it was sweet and sooooooo yummy and he was like "this is so bland!!!" i was like what are you talking about??? this is really sweet!! well I just better stop weiging myself for awhile and chill out and start the exercising. I know that definitely should help! Thanks for the support!

Elizabeth, one of my favorite food combinations is cherry tomatoes with cottage cheese. The two foods together make an awesome taste sensation! Also, I had a small bite of my daughter's banana the other day and it was absolutely the best thing I've tasted in my life!!! Never thought much about bananas before!
