Depressed Dawg
Ken,
I really, really feel for you. My brother-in-law was killed by a drunk driver while on duty in 1998. His car exploded and caught on fire and he was burned alive because they couldn't get him out. The girl who killed him was convicted of manslaughter, even though her blood alcohol was twice the legal limit and she's eligible for release in January. The funeral was attended by over 3000 people and the governor delivered the eulogy. The fly over in the lost man formation, the white horse with the lost rider, bagpipes playing taps and a 21 gun salute had even the toughest of the tough in tears. That funeral is on my mind everytime I hear about an officer involved shooting or The Man is late.
The last year or so has given me a whole new appreciation and respect for those in law enforcement. Dawg, from the bottom of my heart, thanks for all you do because I really get it.
Connie
Thank you for all of your kind words. I appreciate the thoughts and yes we all need to be reminded of our need to live.
On a side note, as we near the holiday please keep in mind that there is a whole lot of fine people standing watch. These dedicated people: dispatchers, cops, firefighters, etc often work for average wages, work horrible shifts and are away from their families on Holidays but do it because they feel like they are making a difference. I won't even go into the military issues as that is another group we need to keep in mind and provide sometimes thankless service.
For those who watched the presentation, I can attest that it was 10X more moving to be there, so you should feel how honored I was to be part of it.
Thanks again, and have a safe, Happy Thanksgiving.
