Drinking and eating-
Is anybody out there eating and then drinking? Some days I can go through a meal and not drink. Other times, I have to have at least a sip. However, when I eat and drink at the sametime, some foods remind me that there is only room for one or the other. I try to drink a lot between meals but sometimes I am very thirsty no matter how much I drink.
I too have only a sip now and then and rarely when eating usually because something is dry and just won't go down! i figure its better to sip then to choak! i try to wait the 30 minutes. i do drink about 15 minutes before my meals. that does work it helps to full me and makes things last longer. why I wonder is it that if we drink 15 minutes before its good and it lasts but we're suppose to wait 30 minutes after?
Sharon,
I definitely drink right up to the point of starting to eat, then I usually will not drin****il 20 to 30 minutes after I finish eating. Although if something is dry, especially problematic with some meats, I'll have a sip or two. As you said, I've found that there's only room for one or the other. I too seem to have a problem with an insatiable thirst. I drink about a gallon of liquid a day and believe me my kidney's work fine, but it seems my mouth is always dry. Thus you'd would rarely ever see me without a bottle in my hand. I don't know that there is an answer out there for this, just something else to which to adapt post-op.

I must confess that I am with Marilyn on this one. I have such a hard time remembering to drink between meals that I end up coming to the table thirsty. For years I believed that the more I drank, the less I would eat, and that habitual mindset is probably still driving my behavior when I do not actively modify it.
Dr. Phil would ask "So, How's that working for you?" I'd have to admit that it is probably not working so well! So why do I do it??

I come to this board all the time. I just don't post very often. I try so hard not to break the rules but I find myself breaking them all time. I have found that I can no longer tolerate anything sweet. That is a very good thing for me. I am still trying to move the scale 30pounds down from where I am. I just found out last month that I have Hashimoto Disease. Which is basically a under active thyroid. I am on the medicine Synthroid. I am hoping that I will see a change in my weight here soon. I never knew I had this. This was found by accident. My other big complaint is -the constant constipation. I have tried eveything and nothing helps. Now, I think it is time to call the doctor for help. I cant believe that the surgery will be 4 years later in March.
