I WANT POP

Believe me I know what you mean... Just last night DH had a coke and asked me to hold it... I took a great big sniff of it and it smelt sooo good, I couldn't resist anymore, so I took the tiniest sip, and it felt funny in my mouth... (I haven't had carbonation in 7 weeks) and that was enough I started thinking about all the sugar that's in it and that I didn't want to jepordize my pouch for a few bubbles... but believe me... I do know what you mean...

my god, do i know what you mean. i dream of a world with ice cold pepsi. although to be honest at this point i'd settle for anything with some fizz. i don't mind that i can't eat much of anything - i could care less about food at this point. but, i think i could kill for a pop.
Much to my own surprise and amazement, I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. Two weeks before surgery I looked like a crack addict, going through the back of the fridge looking for a stray can of Diet Coke. I do get tired of plain water all the time so add a touch of Crystal Light or Propel to my water for flavor. I can't drink either of them straight because they just taste too sweet.
Try this: Pour a caffeine free Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi over some crushed ice and stir, stir, stir until it goes flat. Several people have told me that this really cures the urge without making them feel like they have compromised anything. I haven't tried it myself since my own cravings center around Cheetos more than anything else.

After the 8th week my surgeon says there is nothing we can do to our pouch to hurt it and so pop is free game. The problem is the carbonation doesn't agree with some people. His response is this "you'll burp like crazy -- but so what...if it means you won't eat something bad for you -- go ahead and burp."
I love my surgeon.
