This isn't my favorite thing, it just doesn't feel right in my mouth. That was before surgery and while I have to admit that really hasn't changed I learned that it's mostly protien. Since it's basically a sponge you can flavor it with marinates and other foods. I think while it's not gonna be a staple for me it will be included in my diet. Any one know of anything tasty that I can do with it? Gayle -32

Well, I don't eat it either, but have thought the same thing. I know I saw once where it was sliced thin, fried in sesame oil and salted. It looked really simple and quite tasty. I know they chop it up and put it in eggflower soup at the Chinese restaurant. I've seen chip dips made out of it as well. I'm not sure of the rest of the nutritional value (fat, carbs, etc) but I've had one once that was yummy. I also have been eating some of those Genisoy Soy crisps. They are similar to small thin rice cakes. TheyDina are quite tasty and loaded with protein. I have been eating FF Philly cheese as well. It's almost pure protein - only 1 gram of carbs per serving and just loaded with protein. So I will sometimes have a combo of the Genisoy Soy crisps w/the fat free Philadelphia cream cheese for dinner if I just can't seem to stomach anything else. It also kills a crunch craving but it doesn't affect me as bad as crackers do. Dina

hmmm... Tofu is definitely an aquired taste. Its weird the first time I had tofu I was like oh YUK! My husband liked it so I continued to nibble on it. Then one day I realized that I actually grew a taste for it!!! Its a weird thing to cook cuz you can cook it forever and it will still be the consistency as when you first started But there are alot of recipies on the internet... I would try google and put in tofu recepies or something of that nature. Thanks for the reminder though I am going to pick some up because it is a good protein source and good for you too! Best Wishes Oh if you never "aquire" the taste ...mix it in with hard boiled eggs you wont even notice or put it in a salad. Elizabeth M -44 lbs

I love tofu when it's done right. My favorite it to fry it in about a tsp. of sesame oil and then add a little soy sauce and finely chopped green onion. The other way I like it is sauteed with Chinese vegetables - a little bok choy and carrot plus maybe broccoli and snow peas. It's also great for making pudding. put a box of soft tofu in a blender with about 1/2 c. water and a box of sf instant pudding - any flavor - mix and pour into bowls. It doesn't even need to set. It makes wonderfully smooth pudding. This is the only way my husband will eat tofu! I know there are some other good recipes out there. good luck.
