Pizza?
Hey all you marchers! My fathers birthday is tomorrow and my mom is ordering pizza. Has anyone of you tried pizza and if you did, how did it go down? I don't know if I should take off all the topping and just eat that or just take something along with me and not even have the pizza. She is going to order a vegatarian one but it has some kind of white sauce on it. I'm not sure what to do here. Thanks everyone!

I had a cracker thin crust with veggies from Dominoes a couple weeks ago and it was fine. I made sure it wasn't anything I wouldn't put on a cracker, and it worked out fine. The other advantage to thin crust is that they are larger around and thus the cheese is spread over a wider surface area. As for the cream sauce, I would say you probably aren't going to eat enough of the pizza for it to be a huge problem, but if you are concerned you could maybe just order a mini thin crust for yourself.

Just had Dominoes today and it was yummy! Of course I'm the only one here that likes the thin cracker like crust so unless I develope another stomach it's gonna get frozen and be yummy for a few weeks!
I liked the advice of making sure the toppings aren't anything you wouldn't put on a cracker. I'd stay away from the meats as they all seem to be real heavy on fats. You could order a small one just for you and have them go light on the cheese and have one topping, preferrably one you have since surgery. Good Luck and have fun!
Oh and tell yer pop I said Happy B-Day!

I'm still having problems with the "stuck hairball" feeling whenever I eat anything 'solid'. Last time I saw my surgeon, he said I can eat ANYTHING (ANY-thing) I want (sans sugar, of course), but NO BREADS yet, and no beef. He told me to try it -- AT HOME -- and if it works, "go for it".
I'm always trying to get a rise out of him 'cuz he's so laid-back and funny, so I told him I wuz gonna stop 'n get a pizza 'n a Quiznos chicken mesquite sub on the way home. He didn't "bite" - told me to only eat the insides of the Quiznos sub, and that a LOT of his patients are gung ho on pizza, 'cept only the TOPPINGS, not the crust.
I got a Michalena's low carb pizza "TV Dinner" thingie while shopping last week so I could try it. Ate the topping only...and it not only went down great, but took away some sort of craving I didn't realize I was having.
That's MY experience. But as I said, due to the problems I'm having with real food, I'm on an "anything you can eat, eat" directive from my surgeon and nutritionist. But it so-o-o-o worked for me!

Thank you all for answering my question. My mom isn't getting the pizza with the white sauce just the regular sauce. (which is the better one for you) and it will just have cheese and all kinds of veggies and some feta cheese. I think I'll scrape off the toppings and dab with paper towels and give it a try. I'm eating lower calories all day so the calories I'll have from the pizza will be ok. Thanks everyone!!!!
