I saw my surgeon for the 2nd visit and he was more than thrilled for my weight loss!! Yippee for me. I was concerned because I had seems to stall on the loss recently. He said if he was giving grades, mine would be an A+. This really thrilled me. I was a little shaken when he added "You're losing weight like a man."!! He reminded me that I am almost 1/3 there to goal. I guess I am just a bit confused because he said I could start regular food now. I've been on purees since forever. Now I am a little afraid to try anything. I'm still sticking to soft foods. Most things go down OK. I had a little problem with egg and my pills stick (the Nexium). He wants me adding fruits and veggies and not to drink my protien shakes as a snack, use it for a meal. He said it was too high calorie for a snack. I checked my calories on the protien shake and it is between 60-70 calories per drink. I think of that as pretty low. I cannot get in all my snacks and my meals are really small. I am actually hungry at times. Not head hunger, but tummy growling hunger. That scares me since I am only 6 weeks. I have increased my exercise and am trying to add in things beside protien but starches scare me. The only starch I have had is maybe 3-4 Ritz crackers a day or a couple of pretzel rods. I have not had any bread for fear of clogging my pouch. Pasta also scares me. I don't know if I am being overly cautious or what. Maybe I'll try a little tomorrow. Jane -45

Hi Jane -- Add foods slowly. Try a few new things a day, but only one at a time. Chew well. And in my humble opinion you have a right to fear pastas and bread -- they kill me! I can have dry breads like saltines or wheat thins...but no soft bread. I get sick every time. Pasta does the same thing for me. My surgeon and nutritionist suggested that if you want to try pasta...do not over cook it. Make it still a *****ewy and its less likely to clump in the pouch. I have the hunger sometimes too now and I think its perfectly normal. I know after I eat a meal with a good amount of solid protein (like tuna or shrimp) that the hunger feeling doesn't return very quickly. But liquids only satisfy me for a short time. Let us know how you are doing Lissa
