getting very sleeeeepy
Hey you guys,
Today, I am six weeks out, and I am EXHAUSTED. Last night I went to sleep at nine o'clock, and co-workers still remarked that I looked pale adn tired.
I look at my incisions and I can see that they are healing. I'm thinking maybe my energy is going into healing the wounds on the inside - which were way more serious than my little incisions. However, I saw my surgeon yesterday and he sounded surprised that I haven't gotten the advertised energy-boost from my weight loss yet.
What do you think? Anybody else experiencing fatigue?

Jennifer,
I saw my surgeon today for a 7 week out check and he was so surprized that I was not having fatigue. he said that it is very common as we are having to do so much healing and to top it off loosing weight at the same time. Its like you are starving and your body has to shut down somewhere. I havent gotten the energy boost yet, but I am not fatigued either. Today I weighed in at -45lbs. I definately notice a difference on my back and feet. Hopefully this is just a temperary thing and soon you will have energy to spare!!! In the meantime papmer yourself with extra rest and lots of protein and water!!!! janelle
Hello Jennifer
,
I am not as many weeks post op as you are but i am feeling the same way. Some days i have a little bit of energy but most days i do not even feel like getting out of bed. I do not think that i am getting enough food or water in and that may be my problem. That would kind of make sence to me, if you dont have fuel then you won't have energy. I was surprised when i went for my 3 week post op check up that i lost as much weight as i did because i have not been able to do much walking at all, i just dont have the energy. I hear how everyone is walking so much and even exercising and i feel like i am not doing the right thing here, that i should be out doing more. My Dr. told me that i can't exercise untill my hole closes and it is far from that but he does want me to be walking. I am wondering why everyone else seems to have to much energy and i dont.

If you find anything out let me know please.

I had my surgery the same day you did and I am exhausted too. No matter what I am falling asleep at 4 in the afternoon and sleeping until 8 or 9 and then not going to bed until 2 or 3(or later) in the morning. I'm killing myself I'm telling you. Even if I go to bed at a decent hour(before 11 in the evening) I am up at 6 and then struggling as usual at 4 in the afternoon to stay awake!!! I just got blood work done and I will call tomorrow for the results. I asked my PCP about doing the b-12 shots we will see what the blood work says!!

Jennifer,
I have the same surgery date. I'm OK for most of the day and then about 4:00, total and utter exhaustion hits. I just come home and collapse. I should be getting my walking in, but can't manage to muster up the energy during the week. I'm OK on the weekend. By the time Friday night gets here, my incisions hurt like hell and I just want to crawl in bed. This Friday night is "Girl's Night Out" and I hope I can be awake enough to know what a good time I'm having.

I sleep alot too. I go to bed at 12 am, up at 6 am to get kids ready or school, back to bed at 7:30 am, up at noon to watch soaps, and nap time at 2pm till 4 pm. I feel so old, (30 really isn't old) i can rememeber if i got 4 hours of sleep that was a lot of sleep, now that is just a good nap! I am hoping with summer coming i don't sleep as much.
5 wks out, -40lbs
At about 2 weeks out, I felt exactly the same way..I was soooo tired, I wanted to sleep all day long. It was a struggle to keep my eyes open. I went for my 2 week check up and was given a B-12 injection (they require a series of 4 and then they check and see if you are going to be defficient -- this is a common side effect of this surgery)...By the next day I was starting to feel better and the second day I was back to my old self. Call your surgeon and see if they recommend the B-12 injections. I know it made a world of difference for me...You can also buy sublingual B-12 tablets at GNC to take if you can't get the injections.
Hope you get to feeling better.
