Hi! I had surgery 3 weeks ago yesterday and I am down 27 lbs. I am having alot of trouble finding things to eat. My doctor has me on soft protein rich foods, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles and water water water. I am so bored! It seems like everything that I try to eat is way to dry. I am hungry but when I do eat, I can only eat a very small amount, and never allow myself to feel full because I am afraid that I will stretch my pouch or pop it. What usually happens is that I just ignore any hunger pains because there is nothing that I want to eat or that I can eat. I know I am not getting in my proteins or enough liquids. Why can't I just do what I am supposed to do? Help! Christie

Hey there! Welcome! As for why you can't do what yer 'posed to... when you find out let me know, that way I might get an answer to why I don't do what I'm supposed to! Honestly, I think it's in the human nature some how to go against the grain even when we know that it's best for us. My advice is to try to up your water and protein. We all need to readjust things sometimes, now it's your turn. I think that the increased water may help with the food dryness problems as well. Try to get the adjustment made before you feel ill, O.K.? Best Wishes and again WELCOME! Gayle

Welcome Christie! You might try low fat cottage cheese. Or fat free refried beans with cheese. Or make jello mixed with cream cheese. Or cream of wheat with cheese. It does get a bit more interesting when you can add more foods--won't be too much longer. If you aren't getting in 60 grams of protein per day, please supplement with some protein powder shakes. Your body needs the protein to heal and to be willing to give up weight. Good luck... Joy -31 lbs since 3/1

Christie - welcome to the board! Are you able to eat other soft foods like cottage cheese, eggs, etc? If you are then we might be able to help you with a little variety. It almost sounds like you are doing clear liquids and solids though. Do you know when you get to step up to the next phase? As for proteins, one I love is a drink called Protidiet. Do a Google search on Protidiet tropical and it will bring up a website you can order it from. The only flavor I like is tropical, but it goes down very easy - as easy as Crystal Light and tastes fabulous. It's a heck of a lot better than all the other drinks I've tried. As for drinking enough, I can't force myself to drink enough water, so I have Propel or Crystal Light and that helps me to drink more. Good luck and keep us posted! Dina

Hi Christie, Welcome to the board. It's really hard for me to get in 60 grams of protein also and I'm 6 weeks out. For breakfast I have a protein shake, without it, I'd never get enough protein in. There are non flavored protein powders that you can mix with your food. wlssuccess.com sells them and I'm sure a lot of other places do too. Connie
