4 Weeks post op....a bit worried
Hi everyone. 4 weeks post op today.
So I am sure that most of us had the initial weight loss the first couple
of weeks...but now I am concerned...my weight loss has really slowed down....I am not sure if I have even lost since last friday when I weighted in. I am wondering if I am eating too much.
What are all of you eating on a daily basis? Calories? How many meals? How much protein? Sigh..I sure hope this surgery is gonna work!

Hi Sue ...
I am also a 3/22-er and initially was a bit disappointed in my weight loss. I have posted here before that my doctor is adamant about eating enough and getting in the protein. I haven't actually counted my calories daily, but I think I probably get in between 800 and 1000 on average with more than 1000 on a few days. I have a 60 gram protein shake in the a.m., mid morning usually a carton of low carb yogurt with 12 grams of protein, lunch is mac & cheese or 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 4 oz of apple sauce, if I need a mid afternoon snack I have a stick of string cheese and maybe a couple of wheat thin crackers, in the evening I don't always have 'dinner' but I do get another 40 gram protein shake.
Once I am totally back on solid foods I can cut my supplemental protein (shakes) back to 80 grams per day rather than 100. I am still in the adding foods back phase tho, so I am keeping up with the 100 grams/day.
My weight loss has caught up with me at 4 weeks, I will find out for sure what the official loss is when I go to the dr on Thursday, but I think I am down about 25 pounds since surgery. When I asked Dr S pre-op what to expect for weight loss, he said 15 pounds per month average for the first 3 months, then it would slow down. He's not really keen on losing it too fast, but his patients also have a track record of losing 90 to 95% of their excess weight, so I will follow his instructions.
Good luck,
Hugs,

hi mo
question...I was told that we could not drink protein shakes with more than 30 grams of protein in that at a time for the body cannot absorb
more than that at a time. Just curious about this.
I cannot eat 1/2 a cup of food at a time yet! No where near that! Perhaps I will just try to be more diligent about eating small meals a bit at a time and getting the water in. I also need to keep track of protein a bit more cuz I have no idea how much I am getting in on a daily basis
thanks!

Ya hit a "stall". It's the craze these dayz for the Marchers!
(We're all hitting it).
Just for kicks, did you take measurements before surgery? If so, grab your measuring tape and take NEW measurements...I'll bet you'll be incredibly surprised! I hit about a 2 week 'stall', and when it finally broke (and I went down a pound), I took my measurements: I've lost 27 inches overall so far. So while I was in the stall pounds-wise, I was shedding inches without knowing it. Hey, works for me!
If you didn't take measurements pre-op, take 'em now. My Angel "made" me do it, and now I'm glad I did: it was quite a surprise for me. So go 'n pull out that tape...even if you're just doing it for the first time.

Thats why I love this site. It makes me feel so much better to know I am not alone. I have not lost in 15 days. It was starting to bug me so I told my boyfriend to hide the scale. I will get it out this weekend and hopefully there will be a change. I stopped exercising for 2 weeks but started back this weekend. I eat anywhere from 300 to 600 cal a day. 45 to 55 gm of protein. I drink about 32-40oz of water. I eat 5 times a day. I just added veggies and fruit today. Well I have only had a pickle but it was so good. So for 2 meals I will have 3oz of food(2 protien and 1 veggie or fruit). Then I will have 3 meals with just 2 oz of protein. I think I am following the rules right. I just cant wait to see the end of my plateau. I measured and havent lost any inches either. So good luck to you. It will be over soon. I dont think anyone has had this surgery and NOT lost weight.

Hi Susan,
My surgery was on the 23rd. I have all the same worries as you. I have been worrying about eating too much also. My surgeon wants me to eat 1000 calories a day. I'm up to about 800-1000 per day and I feel like I'm not doing well. I think I've lost about 25lbs. What I really think is wrong is (I hope this comes out like I want it to) all these months we have looked at before and after pictures and heard people say they lost 100's of lbs in such and such a time but once we started doing it ourselves morning to night, day after day, the time goes by slower than it did in our minds. In other words, when you read 4 weeks it seems faster than living day by day for 4 weeks. Does this make sense to anyone? I sure hope so because I was thinking of that just today. I think all of us Marchers are doing well.
Is there any Marcher that has not even lost 1 lb since surgery? I bet there isn't, so great job to all of us!!!!
