Knee Surgery Wednesday

Well I must say you are going through a LOT. If you do not already have a great physical therapist, I hope you can seek one out. I fired 3 of these folks before getting to the wonderful people I work with now. I'm also a knee replacement candidate hoping to put it off and am sorry to hear you are apparently NOT putting it off. So we share that along with the breathing fun, though I think you had more "fun" than I did and mine was PLENTY "fun." I know it is such a long road to being out of pain and I firmly believe you will get to the end of that road. I am back in physical therapy, as I tripped over a cord one week before my surgery and displaced my knee cap, needless to say, aggravating my knee again. I try to remind myself, and of course it doesn't always work, that the weight loss I am experiencing is going to aid and shorten the recovery of whatever I have to do. My orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist keep repeating that. At times, like the fact that the scale will keep going down, it's hard to believe. But this week I was on vacation and swimming a lot in cold water and it took the swelling down by half. I don't think that would have happened 30 pounds ago. Do you have an arthritis pool anywhere near you? Obviously, at the moment you are sidelined until you heal from the procedure. (ALL of the procedures, wow.) I recently tried water therapy after years of being counseled to do so, add it to the list of things I have been stubborn about, and have to admit it is a much pleasanter way to rehab the knees. I will think of you often. Gano
