Well, I love carrots, so I've tried them a few times. Each time I have a small problem, but nothing major. So I wait a few days till I try them again. Today I had carrots with lunch. I am still feeling them 5 hours later!!! After lunch I started sipping red crystal light (waited my half hour first) , but I was slowly getting the 'ol tennis ball in the chest feeling. Finally about 3 hours later I felt the need to , so I went to the ladies room (I was at work and did not want to put on a display for everyone). Spent half an hour there - finally a few times, but all red crystal light - no carrots. (By the way - it looks like blood when that stuff comes up again!) Well, I am still feellin the tennis ball and refuse to put anything else in my mouth until this feeling goes away some. Maybe I'll try the hot tea idea I saw posted on another stream (think it was from Joy). After this, I am keepin' far away from carrots!!! mgm

OK - I now have had about 5 sips of hot tea, and now I have added the hic-cups to the tennis ball! I'm scarin' the dogs mgm

Are you eating them raw? Sounds like they are making a ball and clogging the pipes! My doc said to take meat tenderizer if meat/gristle/fat does that, but I have no idea what to do to break down carrots. (By the way, I hear coconut does that too--avoid it!!) Maybe enough hot tea will cook them??? Joy -32 lbs

I thought of the same thing, but I couldn't drink it when it was that hot. Started to that up too. I finally layed down and stayed still and napped for an hour. Feeling a little better now. They were cooked, but way too hard still. The cafeteria at work usually cooks things to death - not this time. oh well - live and learn. It's all an adventure, even the not so good times! mgm

Ya know, Marla, about the only things I remember about my psych eval are how terribly I wanted to 'play' with them ("yes, I believe there are rabid penguins following me, but my invisible friends will take care of them"...) and the shrink's comments 'bout eating carrots. He does a LOT of bariatric evals, and I suspect he may have had WLS himself. But in the 'oral' eval, we were talking 'bout dumping. He was very well assured I wouldn't have problems dumping on sugars, as he INTERROGATED me 'bout sugars, and believed me that I'm not a 'sweets' person, never have been. He said "You're still gonna have to be careful with other foods, like carrots..." and explained how carrots are a biggie for dumping. I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was something 'bout how if you don't chew them down to 'slop' consistency, you can easily dump on 'em 'cuz even a LITTLE 'chunk' of a carrot will pull all the fluids out of your system TO the carrot 'chunk', add in that they've got a high sugar content (I couldn't believe this...), and thus, carrot 'chunks' are evil and can easily make you dump. I've never researched this, but his explanation sounded viable, so I've avoided 'em. Of course, I STILL have the "stuck hairball" (or as you term it, tennis ball) problem with almost everything I eat if it isn't 'slop' or something like a cracker, so I'm nowhere NEAR even THINKING 'bout eating something as challenging as carrots yet, at 5.5 weeks out. Maybe some day, but I distinctly remember this guy talkin' 'bout how evil carrots can be. I mean, I can understand M&Ms, Snickers, and maybe even candied yams...but carrots!! That really stuck with me. Just an FYI... BTW...how do you intake meat tenderizer???? Wowzer, I hadn't heard THAT one!! Well, I now agree with that guy - CARROTS ARE EVIL!!! I never had dumping, or so I thought. Guess maybe this is my way of dumping! Not fun. Ba Humbug - I like carrots. Oh well - I'll hafta go to cauliflower instead. That settles really well! mgm

Marla - If that feeling doesn't go away pretty soon, are you going to go to the doctor? I'm concerned that you say your liquids are coming back up. You might need a little roto-rootering. Dina

Thanks Dina. I agree. Fortunately after my little nap and some pouch "quiet time", all seems ok now. Liquids appear to be going down fine now. I think I'm gonna stay on them and hold off on a "food" dinner tonight. Looks like it's mom's chicken soup for dinner! mgm
