National Food Drive May 8th (Saturday)
Hey, Marchers!
I promised I'd post this info when I got it: well, I got it today.
Every year the Postal Service heads a national food drive. Actually, the Letter Carriers do it, but the Postal Service cooperates. They take cans, packages, boxes, jars, etc, of any kind of food, but nothing fresh or frozen...only durable kinds. All the food collected is given to local food banks, etc. All you have to do is leave it by your mailbox that day, and the carrier will pick it up.
This year their food drive is on SATURDAY, MAY 8th.
I always clean out my cupboards for this, but this year they're gonna hit the mother lode...guess I bought a bit too much pre-op and I can get rid of all the excess boxes of Cream of Wheat, hot chocolate, broths, baby food, soups, boxes of pudding and jello and on and on ad infinitum (what, did I think I'd be on runny stuff for a year? Cheez...). If any of you did the same thing I did, this is a good way to get rid of it! I think you can even 'claim' it on your income taxes somehow, but I never do, so I couldn't tell ya how...
ANYway, I'll give you all another reminder for it. It's a great way to go...
