Every Doc is different... My doc had me on protien and soups week 1. I live on soup! I cant drink anything cold...or drink water quickly so i sip on hot tea all day long.. everybody is different too... I can not eat eggs at all... they make me puke... but at a baby shower at work today i was able to take a couple bites (3 or 4) of the cake and did just fine..... I dont know why the docs cant agree...

I don't know why there is no set protocol for us but my doctor has said that his are simply guidelines and I should eat healthy food that sits well, and that I should not eat so much as to stretch my pouch and I should focus on taking in protein and not drink with meals. So I eat pretty normally now, small portions but normal. About soups - that's like drinking with meals. The food becomes soupy and goes through the pouch too fast and you'll lose that full feeling. The other reason is that fluids can fill the pouch and cause a backup - that happens to my dd so she never drinks with meals. I live a very social life and have dinner with friends at least 3 times a week, as no one knows that I've had surgery I sip liquids with dinner and it works fine for me. I think you were brave to try the cake. I'm so afraid of dumping that I haven't tried any sweets. All the best to you. Louise -21

Most soups are high in carbohydrates. Your doc is trying to get as much protein as possible in you. This may be part of it. Joy -32 lbs
