PROTEIN SHAKES
Nope.....Not me! Hate the &^#%$^# things and always will. That said, I don't see the harm in it if it helps keep your protein level up. I have 2 questions:
1) Is your protein shake milk-based?
2) Are you aware that peanut butter and milk combine to make a whole protein where either one by itself does not?
Peanut butter is a great source of nourishment, but it's also high calorie and high fat. In my opinion, if you're going to pay the caloric price (and I'm not suggesting you don't), why not get the most bang for your caloric buck by combining it with milk and juicing up your protein intake too??!!! This is something that my wife and I have been drumming into the heads of our daughters for years and it seems to have finally taken hold. It can't hurt as long as you follow the pouch rules and drink first.....eat later. Just some food for thought .... so to speak.

Hi Reenie!
I started drinking them again after I got my butt back in the gym. I find it hard to get a lot of protein in, without raising your calorie count too much. I still eat a lot of protein (as well as the occasional Pure Protein bar, chocolate/peanut butter, yummy!), but I still have a protein shake right before bed.
I mix the Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel with peach iced tea Crystal Light and it is soooo good! Not real thick like some of the chocolate ones. Those are too filling sometimes.

Hi sweetie,
I still use them as a breakfast sometimes, or occassionally as a meal replacement when I am on the go. I use the WorldWide Pure Protein shakes that come in a can.
I wouldn't be on an all-shake diet at this point but I do use them to supplement and cover my bases. Particularly with this brand, you can't beat the protein to fat and protein to carb ratio. My protein shakes (and most of them) use whey protein, which is milk based. I know some people who are lactose intolerant can't use my brand.

HI Reenie
I only use Champion Whey Stack Chocolate & try to get at least 2 into my Day.(Does not always happen.)
The folks on
my off-track board sware by them saying it keeps them from
Binging & straying to old habits. My Doc is one of those that
does not belive in them, but, I feel better since I got back on them. So I do them. The champion brand is the only one
I can handle taste wise & it mixes very well with jus****er
& a few Ice cubes. This is always a can of worms as individual
thing. If it helps you do them, If not, Do what you have been
doing. That is my take on it!! Marilyn, the Bearlady
My doc says 2 per day forever! I usually get one shake in and a protein bar in the afternoon, though I know another shake would be better for me.
I mix up an iced (decaf) coffee shake with instant coffee, vanilla protein, sf syrup (kaluha or hazelnet) and powdered n/f milk, 2 cups ice water and a cup of crushed ice. I shake it like mad then let it sit until I get to work. By the time I am to work, anything that needed to dissolve is all dissolved and it's perfect for drinking.

Hi Maureen,
Even to this day...I drink my Isopures. But not everyday. Just once in awhile. Maybe a couple a week maybe not... But honestly if I feel like I am spluring too much or feel that I am getting off track and what not with my eating...drinking my protein drinks always seems to get me back on track As far as "needing" it in order to get my protein...my levels have been good without them. But I think that is always based on each individual and how their bodies absorb protein. (((HUGS!)))
