Nasty subject warning: Poop Question

Well, I finally joined the ranks of the constipated but one thing that hasn't changed is the smell. What IS that smell? Oh - and the yellow too, but that smell is just nasty. I guess if you were to compare normal vs. non-normal, I wouldn't be able to say either is preferred, but yeesh - you get used to it one way and then end up having to get used to a whole new stink! Anyone else notice this, or do I just stink? Dina

Hi Dina, your not alone on this for Sure!!!! I noticed when I was having s/f puddings it kept everything going very soft....now that I am having soft foods, cottage cheese ect. I am blocked up and I am still drinking more than I need to, so I took some Ducolax, and man it made me so ill I thought I would dump, but by morning I went with a vengence, and may I suggest if you use this stuff, stay close to home till you go...hahahahaha best of luck to you! Don't notice anything different in the smell, but I sure am Queen of Constipation! I tried the Dulcolax too and it is VILE! Be careful with laxatives as they can become addictive, meaning your system will learn to depend on them. I use Colace, a stool softener. Try to find the liquid form since you can't swallow the gel cap. If the caps are all you can find, this is what I do. Melt the cap in a little bit of ho****er, sqeeze the medicine out and then remove the cap. Stir it up, and then stir it into about 3 oz. of prune juice. Still tastes horrible but really takes the bite away. This has worked great for me and I take this "tincture" about every 3 days. Good luck, Dinka Doo! Maureen

And I'll bet when our Moms called us STINKER as kids they never had this in mind! The stink is so icky that I can't hide it with air freshner. The yellow is like paste and sometimes a shower is the ONLY thing that will get rid of it! To make sure my hubby doesn't go NEAR the bathroom until the cloud clears I have found I have to 'announce' myself and what I'm headed to do. I found a clever way to do just that. Ladies we posted on this last week or the week before. The only comment I can make is buy Oust. It works wonders...takes the "smell" away. It does get better.

Oust - I always wondered if the stuff really worked or if it was just any other air freshener! You know what I started using? I go to the dollar store when they have those really cheap body sprays and find a good pear, cucumber or raspberry scent and I use that instead of air freshener. It doesn't affect my sinuses as bad and the smell is better than the other air fresheners I've found! Dina

Dina, I've found that Benefiber chewable tablets work wonders. They don't taste too bad and have kept things going when they should. My poor old husband used to accuse people of eating monkeys with the tails left on when they stunk up the bathroom. I'd hate to hear what he would have had to say about this. lol Connie

My dr told me to eat oatmeal everyday to stay reg. I dont do this but im not having trouble either.

The smell can be bad.............. It was so bad one day that when my cat came in there, she RAN out as fast as she could!! SO no when the cat gets in trouble, i lock in the bathroom after i do my business!!! Maybe she will learn to not climb the curtains or jump in the kitchen sink. But still this is no contest to my 7 yr old daughters stinky butt. LOL One night we were in the van, and it was cold out and the dog was with us and she let one rip, and OMG the dog ran up front under my feet yelping, her butt is that nasty!! At least she is proud of it. LOL On easter she sat on her uncle's lap, let one rip ad said "its so much fun to fart on your family" How can that much stink come from a little girl? I think it is the demons coming out! LMAO
