Well we do not do Easter as we celebrated Passover earlier this week. However when my daughter was younger we always used to travel to a friend's for Easter, and it wan't fair for the other kids to get Easter baskets and my daughter nothing. so I started giving her Spring baskets. Well this morning she got up and came downstairs to a Spring Basket, knowing it was from me and not a bunny. In it was a beannie baby (she adores them), the Brother Bear DVD, and a Radio Disney CD. She took them out and looked in the grass for something else. I said - No candy this year. You already have enough from school that you haven't eated. She said - oh yeah - ok And was perfectly happy with what she got. In the past there would be sooooo much candy, and she is not really a candy eater, so you know who would eat it all! No more. I'll let what she has sit in her snack dreawer for 1 month, then it will go in the tra****'s been in there for a week already and she has not requested one piece. I hope to one day have her taste for candy!! mgm

Great idea. The Easter Bunny brought my 1 yr old some books and a Barney DVD and he brought my 8 yr old clothes (spring outfits). I did break down and buy some Mini M&Ms - what's not eaten by the end of the week will go to my neighbor's house (She's skinny and pregnant and craving chocolate!). So far, my daughter hasn't asked to have any of the candy, but she's already ripped into the hard boiled eggs we dyed last night. Good choice for an 8 yr old! Wish I preferred eggs over chocolate. It's too bad I don't dump - I had VBG and it doesn't cause dumping like the by-pass apparently does. I have a feeling a few mini M&Ms will find their way into my mouth today - but I'll only have a taste, then I'm over it! Have a great day! -Wendy

my kids are the same way... they would rather have a piece of fruit than candy. I'm sooo glad, too. I hope that never changes.

My kids didn't get candy except what they found in the easter egg hunt - jelly beans. I told the youngest that I told the bunny not to bring sugar because he gets to crazy acting. He said he understood. My 8 year old is starting to figure out, you know, my cousins (who are Jewish) don't believe in the easter bunny... maybe they know something. (We did passover with them earlier this week and they talked about the easter bunny) So he wasnt surprised by the no candy thing. My 14 year old, though, of all the kids, is the only one that threw a fit. She accused me of punishing HER for my having to get surgery. Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. -Sherrie
