Too stubborn to listen sometimes

Well, I've been seeing many talk about having the FF Refried Beans with some cheese. Well, I never really liked refried beans - well, maybe that's too strong a statement. I've always thought I wouldn't like refried beans. I finally broke down, out of boredom, and got a can. I was very skeptical - when I opened the can, it looked and smelled like dog $&*#. Well I put my 2 oz in a dish and added some shredded cheese. After a quick spin in the micro - it was ok, but nothin to wrtie home about. It was very heavy, but I put the rest in the fridge to try again another day. Today I was looking for a snack and decided to try it with salsa. OMG - I have now found my totally favorite snack in the world. The salsa moistened it so it wasn't so dry and pasty, and man did that taste good. Lesson learned: while I know I need to be careful with food choices, I should also try being a little more adventurous! mgm

I know exactly what you mean about them being dry. I tried them because I'd heard that they were such a great source of protien. However, like you I really had trouble getting them down, they were so thick and dry. I had a litlle cheese and sour cream in them too. I ended up throwing them out. When I went for my 1st post-op appt (doc is 1 1/2 hour away) i needed to eat. So let me tell you Taco Bell does them just right. they are thin and go down well. nevermind that I got three meals from one little container. I asked them to add sour cream. (thinking that they might be too dry) but I think they'd have been ok without it. Any way, just wanted to tell ya. ~~~Kym~~~ 3/25/04 -25

Today I bought some Weigh****chers smart ones. The ones with just a mixed meal instead of the seperate foods. I cooked one and blended it with a little broth and boy I thought I was in heaven. I was getting so sick of the soups and stuff like that. This morning I thought I would get sick thinking of Cream of Chicken soup. OMG! I"m 2 1/2 weeks out. Not sure of weight lose yet. What have you other Pureed people tried that was good? I have another week or two to go before starting soft foods.

Hi Cynthia, I'm also 2 1/2 weeks out. I really felt like having some meat today, so I made spaghetti with meat sauce for my husband and then pureed some of the sauce for myself. It was so yummy. The other thing that has tasted good is pureed ham and pea soup. I also like refried beans with sour cream, and egg salad pureed. I can still only eat miniscule amounts of all this stuff, but what I get is good. Gail
