Hubbie took me on a date and that meant out to dinner. This was my first post op dining out experience (I don't count things like beans from Taco Bell) This was a great experience. At first, I was worried he decided to go to a new resteraunt in town and of all things it was Buffet. I still cant have raw veggies, so salad was out and I was thinking great what is there for at a buffet. Two great things happened besides having a lovely time with Hubbie... 1) I went to te buffet and found several delicious choices that I could eat (did I mention that this was a seafood buffet???) and 2) I filled my plate called the waitress over and pointed out my plate explained my particular situation..she was ever so nice and spoke to the manager...he came over and talked with me...when we went to pay the price for my $12 buffet $4 and he wished me well on my journey....If you have a Catfish Cabin, I whole heartedly suggest them for your dining pleasures...It was delicious too. I am glad you had such a good experience dining out with hubby! What I have found works for me is splitting an entre with my hubby - Whereas I have lost 47 lbs, he has lost 22 lbs since my surgery, partially because we are splitting dinners!! -Sherrie

That is great! I also split dinners. Went to Outback last night and Dan ordered the 5 shrimp add-on to his dinner and I ate that. It was just right! I have heard of many cases where spouses gained weight from finishing dinners that the WLS spouse could not eat. That just transfers the problem. Dan has lost 15 lbs since the first of the year on South Beach diet. I'd like to keep us both healthy. Eating out is fun again. I still stress a bit over ordering, and have some regrets on the front end that I can't eat like I used to, but I find that if I eat an appropriate amount that I am satisfied and have no sense of being deprived after the fact. I will sure be glad when I can have salads again though! Joy -29 lbs
