Rob????
Joy - you've done such a great job getting us updates and I appreciate everyone's help, so please don't get angry at me for being this way, but I just have to ask if anyone has checked on him within the last couple hours?
I don't expect everyone to deluge the family with questions, but I can't help but ask on the off chance the timing is okay. I just want so badly to hear he is doing okay.
You know, I had a nice long talk with God about it today in my car and I just got this feeling that I hope is on target that God took that lap procedure away from Rob and that the open although not without major risk and complications might be the reason he'll do fine. I am not trying to suppose anything, but it's a feeling I have that I hope is true. We never know which will be worse for us, but I do continue to pray that God shields Rob from more pain and illness.

Sorry--just realized that you are in Pac Time also and you posted this last night, not this morning. (I'm in Central--2 hours off!). I will call this morning when they have had time to get an update. Kat promised that she would post if there was a change. The family is exhausted and trying not to stay at the hospital around the clock, knowing that he will need them more later. They really appreciate the concern of everyone here and said that Rob will be eager to read all the notes when he gets home.

The hospital number at the Univ of Wash Med Center is 206-598-3300, however, at this point Rob is heavily sedated in the ICU and cannot take calls. They are waking him each day just enough to see that he is responsive to "move your right foot" type of commands, then putting him back out so that all his energy goes to healing. He may be kept like this for a week or so. They are watching for his heart rate to decrease and his temperature to drop.
I understand your frustration--I wish I was close enough to go there. I am making myself only call the family once or twice a day because they are so tired at this point. I sense that they jump out of their skin every time the phone rings. Believe me, they know that there are a large number of people here that care.
