One of the Newbies on the block
HI Everyone! I'm one of the newest ones that I've seen to join up here. I found this site by accident and have been on it all day! I am so excited to see that I am not the only one who is having difficulties. ( I was starting to think I was the only one.) I am post-op as of 3/22/04. I had my second visit today and I was told that I have a frothing problem. I'm not very happy about this because my Doc said it could last up to 16 weeks!
I was just wondering if anyone else was having these problems and what they did about it? Well, I wish everyone the very best of luck with their new found life style!!!

Casaey, Welcome to the Marchers, I hope you make many new friends here. Its great to know when things are down you are not alone, and when things are up there are many waiting to cheer you on. I for one have not had any set backs major or minor. What is a frothing problem? Sorry I cant help you with the medical problem, maybe someone else will post soon for you. I just wanted to invite you in and say howdy and welcome!!!!! Janelle
Thank you so much for the welcome! It feels SO good to know that somebody out there understands. Sorry for not elaborating on frothing. What happens is, after I eat (usually an egg, cheese, soft protein) I vomit. Not forcefully or painfull, but I do until my pouch is empty. Then in about an hour, I can eat and I'm just fine. My Doc says it's mucus in the pouch that makes that happen. I can bear it if I must, but it makes it very hard to eat at work or out at places. Thank's again!

Welcome to the Marchers haven of happiness!! I have not had the problem of frothing, however, I did read somewhere that sometimes its caused by eating too fast, or maybe just one bite too many. I dont really have any help to offer you on the problem, I just wanted to welcome you to our little home!!
You are very welcome here. I wish I could help with your problem, but I don't know any answers. It seems like it would be next to impossible to get adequate nutrition with that going on! I have not seen anyone here post about that other than one reference to frothing (that I wondered about--thanks for the explanation!). Did your doctor have any suggestions for resolving this?

Casey, You didn't mention when the frothing is occurring. Morning, noon, or evening. My surgeon states that there is always mucous in the pouch in the mornings and that you should begin drinking as soon as you get up to wash out the mucous. Stop 30 minutes before you eat and this should help the frothing. I haven't had the problem myself, but this was in his educational information. I am also a newbie. Surgery was done 3/29/04. Good luck in your journey!
