Protein Drink Suggestion

Hi Everyone - I use a vanilla flavored protein powder from Costco call Pro-Rated. I love it for the most part but have been getting a tad tired of the vanilla flavor. Well yesterday I mixed my scoop (4 carbs/22 protein) with 8 ounces of water and then I looked up at my coffee supplies. I realized that I had some sugar-free coffee syrups to add flavoring. I have a sugar free Chocolate/Hazelnut flavoring and added about 3/4 of a shot (ounce) to it. OHHHH HOWDY it tasted good after I shook that up with some ice. Now I'm thinking about getting some more sugar-free flavors!!! I love the flavor of peppermint and so that is my next mission. The sugar free syrup by DaVinci comes in a number of flavors and adds NO CALORIES or CARBS -- just flavor. So, now I get in 22 grams of protein, 4 grams of carbs (which is low for a protein supplement), 8 ounces of water and it tastes good, all for only 120 calories total. I'm loving it! Lissa PS -- the scale FINALLY moved today and I'm down 2 pounds.

Lissa, where do you get the Divinci sugar-free flavorings? Thanks. Maureen

Maureen, My grocery store carrys them, they are in the diet food section. Several websites carry them, but I hate to pay for shipping if I don't have to. Rachel

Hi Maureen - Torani also makes sugar free flavors and so that is acceptable as well. My local grocery store carries them in two places -- the coffee aisle and also by their in-store espresso stand/deli. Also, if you have a restraunt supply type store you can often find them cheaper because that is where the espresso and delis go to buy them in bulk (but you can buy just one bottle). We have a store called Cash and Carry (not sure if it is a chain store), where I can buy the syrups for a $1 cheaper per bottle. I believe my grocery store charges about $5.50 for a 750 ml bottle (like a fifth of alcohol). It goes a long way when you are flavoring so little. You can also buy small bottles if you want to just try a flavor. My next "protein endeavor" is to blend my vanilla protein mix with 8 ounce of cold coffee, ice and flavoring. I suspect it will be like a coffee shake which I LOVE. I'll let ya know how it goes. Lissa

Sounds great! Here is another suggestion: I add sugar free Tang or Crystal Lite to my vanilla protein instead of water. Yum!!! RNY - 03/01/04 (285)258/224/130
