Help!! Sugesstions needed
Surgery date 3/24/04 - I am two weeks post-op. I have lost 12 lbs. My energy level is low. I work around the house but can't get motivated to go to the gym. I am going for a B-12 shot tomorrow.
I am not interested in pureed food either. It seems so boring and the texture is ugh! Any good recepies?
Finally I am having a hard time drinking the water. I am bored with it too. Any suggestions?
Thanks Sharon
Sharon,
Can't help you with the pureed end of it as I am just going on it myself. However for the water end I would suggest the options that my bariatric nutritionist suggested. Sugar free tang, Diet Snapple, sobee lean, and crystal Light. These all count as liquids. You do still need to get in regular H2O so she suggests Fruit2O from Walgreens (Orange, Strawberry, lemon, Raspberry) and Fruit H2O from the grocery store. These are non-carbinated flavored water. Good Luck.

Reguarding the water, have you tried Fruit2 0? I always liked water but since my surgery (March 25th) regular water does not go down easy. The Fruit2 0 goes down great!
The Purreed thing is rough, i know. The past few days have been more of a challenge. I like a scrambled egg with 1oz tuna and 1 oz cheese. Or Chicken with cheese and enchilada sauce. Cold egg salad with a little mayo and or with chicken or tuna. Taloupia fish is good baked with margeine and lemon juice with a baked potatoe whirled with a little margerine and milk. Finishing off a meal with a few bites of jello or a fruit has also helped me ALOT. I hope you can find something that works for you!
Robin,
Thanks these recipes look good and tastier than what I have been trying. Especially the egg, tuna and cheese. Although, if the egg is just a little too hard I can't eat it. Do you use canned chicken? Do you put it through the blender?
I am baking fish tonight with a baked potato.
Thanks Again
Sharon

Let me know how your fish and baked potatoe went down! I'm so glad I could help, feeling blue about what little food we eat is just SAD! I've not used the canned chicken, though I do have some in the pantry. The chicken I am eating we cooked with a box of chicken broth, slow simmered for an hour then broth and all in the blender. I also have a mini chopper, it's like a mini food processor. It holds about a cup of food. I either pan scramble or microwave my eggs with a splash of milk and a teaspoon of powdered milk and then give them a whirl in the mini chopper.
Tonight I had Kraft Mac and Cheese with the pouch of cheese in the box, whirled it with a little milk, it was GREAT. Cottage cheese whirled up with the chicken and taco sauce is very good too. It really boost the protein also! Keep me posted Sharon, you are NOT alone!
Robin,
I am learning. By the time I get this down to a science my month will be over.
The fish was a little rough. I have some left I will whirl with broth to help get it down. The potato was great!!! I am having more potatoes tonioght. My daughter made baked mac and cheese so I blended that with some milk and I was happy.
Thanks you are a GODSEND

1/2 c Riccotta cheese mixed with 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, and a splenda. It is very good. It also has 8 grams of protien.
You can vary the vanilla with other flavorings.
My dh is on the South Beach diet and this recipe is from the dessert list.
I made it with almond extract and it was good.
Hope you enjoy.
