Hi Gang; Although I'm still working nights, I'm no longer a vampire! I got the second shift supervisor job I applied for. The shift is 3P-11P, so I can sleep at night like a normal human and maybe get a better handle on my eating and sleeping schedule. Also, there are 2 other supervisors who are planning to retire within the next year or so. Both of these guys work days, so there's a reasonable chance for me to get a day job fairly soon. Mike

Mike, This is great news. Congratulations! Recent studies have shown that lack of sleep affects grehlin levels, causing the whole eating/hunger balance to go out of whack. Having a somewhat normal schedule has to be better for the home life also. Connie

I don't mean to be self-centered in this reply, but this means I get to see a whole lot more of you at support group meetings -- right??? I am very happy for you - you've been waiting for an opportunity like this for quite some time. Good for you! M.

Thanks Marilyn, Connie and Maureen......Uh.....one problem with the support group meetings, Maureen.......While it's true that I won't be sleeping at the time of the SG meetings, I will be working (3p-11p)! If and when I get on the day shift, however, I plan on attending them regularly. CHEERS! Mike

Thanks Pam; Yes, my family is very happy. I started the new job last Friday. It is a much busier job because I have more workers to supervise and we run many more trains during my shift. This includes the evening rush hour where any delay is compounded by backing up the following trains. It also makes for Grumpy Commuters who are, understandably anxious to get home from work. Also, since the territory I'm resposible for is mostly in the very wealthy Fairfield(CT) and Westchester(NY) counties, The grumpy commuters tend take their complaints to a "Higher Level" than the ordinary folks do. It makes for more pressure on the job, but at least I'll be awake enough to handle it!! It's nice to be able to sleep with my wife again (and yes, I do mean SLEEP.....the other things have a way of taking care of themselves! LOL). My bed also likes it.......it gets a break now that I'm not sleeping in it days with my wife sleeping nights. It was like "Hot- Bunking" on a Navy Ship!! Mike

Thank you Sir; I'm sure that having a regular routine will help. It's also nice to be able to sleep at night for a change. I only started this job last Friday and I feel better rested already! CHEERS Mike
