Up on the Soapbox!!
Hi Dina
Yes, I really do understand where you were coming from, and I wish that I had the perfect answer for you. I've never really been all that great about scheduling things like this either. For some strange reason, I managed to get into the habit of taking this junk regularly. I guess that all of the reading I've done on the subject scared me into action. Maybe one of the other Marchers has a few ideas to help you out. If I come up with any ideas myself, I'll certainly give you a yell.
Mike
Dina,
I'm with you on forgetting to take supplements. I've always said that I could never be a drug addict because I just can't remember to take drugs. When my son was little and I couldn't leave drugs out on counters, I was screwed. Now that he's old and on his own, I leave everything out in plain sight.
I finally got into a really good pattern for vitamins and did it by leaving them everywhere I sit in the house. I take gummy vitamins and leave them on the counters in the kitchen and bathroom, on my night stand, on my desk at work and in my truck. I can manage to remember to eat 4 of them in the morning and 4 at night when they are everywhere I go.
What I still struggle to remember is the B-12. Somehow remembering once a week is harder than remembering everyday so I'm taking it everyday now. I figure it's water soluble so I should pee out what I don't need. Better too much than too little.
Connie
Connie - I just posted a huge whine but wanted to respond to you here. I don't know if you are as bad as me (see my whine) but if you have any ability to remember once weekly, you could try those B12 patches. They aren't cheap but you wear them I think 12-24 hours behind your ear, then you're done for the week. I guess they were designed for bariatric patients.
Since I'm thinking about it....I'm going to go get up and put one on. If I remember what the hell I was going to do when I stand up and slip my shoes on!!!
Dina
Dina, darlin' - there are few daily constants in our lives but nonetheless they exist: we must sleep; we must eat; we must hydrate; we must pee (i'd add poop except for me that is certainly not daily, nor constant!). All you have to do is take the damned pills once a day. Sooooo....you take them around your daily sleep; or one of your daily meals or daily glasses of water or whatever else you're drinking; OR you just keep them in the bathroom next to the toilet and when one of your daily urge****s to eliminate, you take your pills at the same time--or just before, or just after, but don't allow yourself to leave the bathroom until you've accomplished both objectives. Hey, if your blood work is coming back a-ok, then no sweat. But keep a good watch on it. Hugs, Maureen
My dear Reenie - have you forgotten who you are talking to? Seriously....this is DINA you're talking about. You know....the one who doesn't sleep, the one who, like last night, forgot to eat and who rarely remembers to "hydrate?" In fact, here is one for you....this will KILL you! This was just a few months ago. I got up at 6:30pm to get ready for work. I peed before I took my shower. Then I went to work. Worked 10 hours, got home and took the kiddo to school. Got home, played on the internet. Went to my friends house and BS'd with her over coffee for several hours. Got home, getting tired and cold. My gut is aching and I'm thinking maybe it's menstrual cramps. Go to the bathroom and realize that at this point, not only have I been up for 26 hours, but I haven't peed ONCE in that time.
No. I'm not joking!
Hi Connie;
I had problems with the B12 when I was taking it once a week also. Then, when I wasn't happy about my over-all wellness, I started reading and decided that I might actually need more B12. I started taking them every day and 2 things happened:
1) I suddenly felt a lot better.
2) I no longer forgot to take them because I was taking them with the rest of the "routine supplements".
The funny thing about all of this is that now, my surgeon is reccomending taking the sub-lingual B12 daily. I guess that I managed to get ahead of the curve for a change!!!
As for the water, I don't really know what the right answer for you is. I'm pretty good about drinking water at wor****ep my water bottle with me at all times. At home, however, I'm usually so sick of water that I can't stand the sight of it. What works for me is that I found a few flavors of Crystal Light that I can tolerate. I especially like the de-caf iced tea.......It's living better through chemistry, but for some reason, it appeals to me! CHEERS!!
