I had surgery 3/10 and was doing really well and then got a case of the can't hold anything down. I'm either wiped out or restless because I want to do what my body isn't ready for yet. I'm either feeling depressed or regretful and really don't want to be either! Is anyone else feeling mood swings? Is it normal to feel so wiped out still? I'm walking several block twice a day.

I sure hope it is normal! I am just starting to feel like myself after a month. I am told the anesthetic stays in your system that long. And yes, I have the mood swings too. But they promise it gets better. If you are not holding anything down, you may have a stricture. That is not normal if it lasts for any length of time. Insist that your doctor check you out. You can get very dehydrated very fast. Joy

I think your getting dehydrated might be a good reason for you feeling so wiped out. Did they check you for a stricture or are you able to hold food/water down now? How big did they make the pouch? I'm sure I talked to you before. I'm down in Medford and had the same surgery date. I thankfully haven't been sick like that, but I have felt nauseous from what I've eaten before and gotten the runs. None of it's fun, but if I were wretching a lot, I'd probably feel quite mournful as well. I guess the only thing I can say to you is that although some people at this phase feel regretful, from what I've read once things normalize and the weight starts dropping off, they say they don't regret it at all. Maybe trying to focus on that if you can will help. Otherwise, you could just get a dartboard of your least favorite person or food and use it as target practice. Dina

Dina... I actually DID that with the dartboard. Had it on the back of the door in our office (I was a Union Steward), and on the dartboard was the picture of our Lead Gen'l Foreman, a mean, hateful woman. Well, Mgm't seldom came in to our office, and if they did, they pretty much just stood in the doorway with the door open...you know, "the stance". I don't remember how long it was, but that dartboard remained up there for a SERIOUS length of time: non of the employees dropped a dime 'bout it. It was hysterical...and went a LONG way for morale!
