I had surgery on March 12th, as of today I have lost 17 pounds. I lost 10 before surgery but I wasn't even trying for that one. I feel that today it makes me three weeks out and I have lost a small amount compared to every one else on the marchers. I drink my proten, I eat three, two ounce meals a day, take my multi-vitamin. I am doing some walking but for the first two weeks I had a really bad cold that took all my energy away. The surgen told me for a month I would be on soft puree foods, then I could add crunchy, well I was craving salt and had to get some malba toast and I have been eating that with tuna. I haven't dumped yet, but I think I ate too much one night and felt really really full and had to lay down, it hurt. I guess I need some good words on how to get the weight to come off a little faster. Yes I can't wait for it to come off. Thanks for helping Kimberly

Take it one day at a time. It will come off. My hubby went through all this in November 2002 and he too had some set backs, but eventually the weight will come off. Myself, I'm only 3 days post op - so I can't speak from my own experience, but it helps to know my hubby's history!

I'm 2 days ahead of you and have lost the same - well, I finally dropped another half pound today. It's a stall that I don't think we can fight right now. Just have to wait for our fat cells to give up the ghost. Hang in there! You're doing great! Dina

I think there are a lot of people who lose at about this rate. I'm one of them. People don't post as much, etc. when that is their situation. I had surgery on March 2. Just in the last week or so, a lot of weight fell off. Now it's slow again and I think I'm losing inches, i.e., consolidating the loss. I think this is the way it goes. If you're doing everything right -- you didn't mention the water -- you're going to get there. I'm having to amp up the exercise less quickly than I had hoped, too. I had two infections after surgery. So, I mean, well, that's life, huh? I think we should all be kinder to ourselves about the need to heal after this major surgery. As long as you stay positive and keep working toward being more active, remember that negativity is your worst enemy. Negativity lets the cravings in, so try to do something else when those feeling start. (I say that to myself as well!) I also plan to up my protein but at a rate I can take.

HI I had surgery 3/10 and my weigh at 2 weeks was 12 pounds down and I've been walking from day one and by day 5 4-6 blocks 2-3 times a day. I've had my own set backs. I don't owna scale and don't think I'm going to get one. I'll weigh at my monthly support meeting...another motivator to go. HAng in there! We are all in similiar boats and we just need to keep supporting each other! One Love - Joanna

How many grams of protein per day are you getting in? If it is not at least 60 grams, try adding a protein shake to make sure your body gets the message you are not starving it. And drink as much fluids as you can possibly get in. If you are doing all that, along with getting your body in motion to stir up your metabolism, then all you can do is allow your loss to happen as it wants to. It WILL happen. I lost 8-9 lbs per seek for week 1 and 2 and stalled almost to a stop week 3 and 4. The loss just started up again. I think this is just the way it works--more of a stair step pattern than a consistent line. But remember, it is the direction that counts! And, unlike all those diet attempts, it is FOREVER this time! Hang in there... Joy
