Ok, so I'm no galloping gourmet, but I just made THE best low cal, low fat dessert that actually has about 14g or protein per 1/2 c serving! Here goes: 8 oz fat free cool whip 16 oz low fat cottage cheese (you could use ff) 8 oz crushed pineapple (drain the juice very well) 1 pkg sugar free jello (unprepared, any flavor you like) Mix all ingredients together and chill about 1-2 hours before serving! Now, normally... I won't eat cottage cheese. Ick Yuck But in this mixture, it doesn't taste like cottage cheese and you get all the protein from it. Now I can't wait til dinner time! I may actually have to "save some room" for dessert! Enjoy Karla

Is the FF cool whip also sugar free? If not, I'd be leery to try it for fear of dumping. Another wonderful way to have cottage cheese as a dessert is to mix it with dry gelatin alone - no need for fruit or cool whip. It's yummy! Dina

Its sounds great but I'm kosher so Jello is a nono for me. You can mix sf jelly with cottage cheese for a treat- lots of flavors to choose from. My Grandmother mixes cheam cheese with her homemade strawberry jelly for a delightful cracker dip. I can't the crackers yet so I use one wheat thin cracker to scoop the dips (refried bean dip, flavored ff cream cheese, or Laughing Cow low fat cheese) . I don't eat the cracker. You can make your own "cool whip" use heavy whipping cream.. (NO CARBS) and throw in some splenda and beat it to death!!

Isn't heavy whipping cream a "no-no?" Too much fat is also not good, as is too much sugar. Also: how much powdered Jell-o to what ratio of cottage cheese? Rita

Hi Rita.. I know a post op who uses the whipping cream in place of milk since it has no carbs. She told me the carbs and sugar are bigger evils than the fat. Everyone is different though... I have tasted her cooking and you'd never know it wasn't the "real" thing though!!!
