Hi Tori -- I am almost 4 weeks out (on Monday) and last night I had canned chili and it was soooo yummy. I ate about a 1/4 cup. My memory of Wendy's chili is that the meat is very small in bits and the beans very well cooked so as long as you chew chew chew, you might be okay. I can have 2 saltines if I have them with a soup...but alone they just sit in my tummy. Hope that helps Lissa 26 down -- but the damn scale has been stuck for over a week (argghh)

I am still amazed at the differences between doctors and their diets...I can't even look at bun or bread until 12 weeks. In the 4th week I can add more normal foods but still this week it is soft only.

Hi Tori, I have heard from some post ops in my support group that Wendy's chili works really well. I have some Hormel without beans that I am going to run through the blender tonight for dinner I think. I just got to pureed foods and we stopped at KFC on the way home from the dr for me to get mashed potatoes. Hugs, Mo doin' a happier happy Mo post op dance every day

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw .. sorry Mary .. and I was busy feeling so sorry for myself that I was on liquids until today. Actually, I was surprised that he moved me to pureed foods today. I thought I would have to wait until Monday. I can have the chili .. BUT .. it has to go thru the blender and be pureed. The idea of chili sounds good. I am not so sure how good thru the blender is going to be. It is almost the 6th! so just hang right in there. Hugs, Mo doin' a happier happy Mo post op dance every day

There are 2 possible problems with eating the bun with a sandwich. 1. It violates the "protein first" rule. If you eat the chicken with the bun, you won't get in enough protein because you will fill up on the bread. The white bread in buns has virtually no food value. 2. White bread tends to form doughballs in your stomach and can get stuck. Harder dryer bread with a courser texture is not as bad about doing that. Of the two, the chili sounds like a better choice when you are allowed to have ground beef. Funny, I have had no problems with seasoning or spices--I put chili powder in my beans! Joy -26 lbs
