Marchers still fighting issues
Now that all of the March marcher surgeries are over, lets start a list of marchers that are still "struggling with recovery". Hopefully this list will shorten as we see these folks getting better. Please add to it. I'll start it off with:
Rob G (3/31). Pain control issues, low blood pressure--unknown cause.
Melissa Reed (?). Anemia following GI bleed.
Virginia H (3/2). Trouble keeping enough liquids down.
For now my brain fails me. (Thus the need for the list!)
Joy
Hey Joy,
The only real trouble with fluids that I have is not being able to stomach them when I'm nauseated. My biggest problem right now is dry heaves after I try to eat "solid food", generally these last from 10 to 30 minutes. I've yet to "throw up", just constant dry heaves.
I've about decided to go back on the semi-soft food for a couple of days to see if this will resolve. Help from my surgeon's office has been an absolute joke. So I guess I'm 4 weeks out and on my own. My PCP tries but she's not a surgeon and can only guess as to what's going on.
I'm still limited to one type of Protein shake that I can tolerate, ON's Vanilla Ice Cream. But I can at least change that up with SF pudding and SF jello.
Thanks for checking on me.
Va
I'm glad you are keeping things down, Va, but you stay on my prayer list until the nausea goes away! (Have you tried emetrol?)
Is there another WLS in your area that you could go to for postop care? Your doc should be reported to the AMA. At least post a review on his lack of support on this site!
Problems happen, but there is no excuse for neglect! (We Marchers get angry when we don't feel our sisters are getting the right attention!)
Joy
Thanks for keeping this list, Joy. I think Kym H had a stricture or something and will have to be dilated again soon. I know there are others too but I've been sporadic at checking the board so I'm not positive of who/what.
Va - I hope you get attention from your surgeon soon. I'm thinking a stern discussion with whomever you talk to from his office with slight fear of legal reprecussions might get them off the stick. I know surgeons are busy, but this is all part of the job they do and they need to be there for patients. I can't say what your problem is either, but it almost sounds like a stricture or something similar to me. Not having had any problems like that, I'm only guessing though. That's why he needs to see you - it needs to be addressed! Sounds like he needs a good swift kick in the arse!

Dina --
I agree...Va's surgeon is in the running for King Of The Jerk Surgeons, only competing with Misty's surgeon at this point.
I think we ought to keep a running list of CRAP surgeons...hehehe!!
1) Va's surgeon
2) Misty's surgeon
Any others to add, folks?
