Please excuse the disgusting discussion, but I had a boiled egg yesterday and I think it brought on a slight bout of diarrhea. Anyone else had a problem like this? I've had scrambled eggs, and did fine. Thanks for your help!

I'm having an egg problem too. I've been eating 1 1/2 scrambled egg with cheese for breakfast and doing great with that. Well today I decided to make a 2 egg omlet with the cheese and had such a hard time with it. My pouch was rumbling after I ate it. I couldn't eat more than half of it. I didn't get sick or anything I just felt it. I wonder why this happens. An egg is an egg, or so I thought... Kelley

An egg is an egg . . . Why would my body react so differently to a boiled egg as opposed to scrambled?

I tried scrambled eggs last saturday and only made it through 2 small bites. It did NOT sit well or go down well. Cheryl

The nutritionist at my surgeon's office said whole eggs are too full of fat (in the yolk - my favorite part, of course) so for eight weeks following surgery we should stick to Egg Beaters. I was skeptical of how the taste would be but found a small carton that had Southwestern flavorings in it that really isn't bad. You might try backing off the cheese a bit too. It may be the fat that is causing you problems. Jan

This is a discussion I had with my dietician. She said the textures of the eggs is what could cause different reactions. Sometimes people can handle scrambled as opposed to boiled and the other way around. I found that I can not deal with scrambled but I made some deviled eggs with light mayo and did great. I have heard that eggs are tricky things for wls patients. Some do great with them and some don't. I haven't had your experience, but I can say that 1 boiled egg fills me up a lot quicker than an egg over easy. Dina

I'm limited to one egg only for the first few months, not sure of the reason (saw a later post where someone tried to eat 2). I sometimes feel a little blah after eating the egg and can't say I look forward to it like I did before surgery. You know, when you eat a boiled egg, you eat the white alone and the yolk alone, moreso than when it's scrambled. Maybe that's getting you. I ate a protein bar this morning (Odyssey) and chewed it REALLY slow because I'm getting sick of eggs and the protein drinks make people sick in the early stages of recovery, or at least I read a lot of messages about that. I did okay with it and it was a relief from the eggs, though you should check with your doctor to see if you're ready. I've had diarhhea a couple of times. I've never been sure if it's the exact food or if I've eaten too quickly or maybe a little too much. I think it's part of the stage we're in. Let me tell you, I make sure I'm at home near my own bathroom when I try something new these days!
