Yeah!!! Jessica that is wonderful news!
I can't help much on the losing part tho. My suggestion would be to try a high protein, low fat and careful carb (sort of south beach-y thing). If you cut back and go on a 'starvation' diet, your body is going to shut down and not really lose, because it thinks you are starving it.
I didnt' have to lose a prescribed amount before my surgery. I just had to follow a food plan and write down my food for Dr S to review my choices with me. But I was doing the protein/fat thing, because that is how I will be eating if I ever get to solid foods again. LOL .. (some days it seems like I will NEVER get there....)

doin' a happier happy Mo post op dance every day

I'd go with the South Beachy thing recommended already. I went off Optifast and onto that type of thing before surgery. I wasn't learning anything on Optifast and it had my metabolism tuned down so far it was ridiculous. Make use of the time for learning -- even Weigh****chers isn't a bad idea. If you can get hold of your doctor or program's handout for transition to solid foods, eat by it as well as you can, with somewhat more food, or a couple of protein snacks. Also, you need to start adding in exercise, even if it's just taking a walk. If you start figuring out all that post surgery, it's a lot of stress. Better to find some things you like doing (and eating) before you have to do it. It's enough to heal after the surgery without having to start a lot of learning.
I haven't really been stressed out by the food or the requirements since surgery and I think it's because I went through it all beforehand. I mourned the food, cried occasionally like a leaky faucet, etc. Now that I'm here and doing it all, I'm good with it.

Mo, Gano, you offered WONDERFUL suggestions. I think Im gonna try to eat as if I had sugery. Protein, veggies then if there is room, carbs. And excersise.. I bought a treadmill recently, now only if I could use it without a 3 year old throwing balls at my feet.
I hope my surgeon will be happy with SOME loss.. even if its not the 25 he's hoping for.

I think you are on track. Try not drinking with meals too. If that keeps you feeling full with a pouch, it should work with a real stomach too.
Log everything you eat and every time you exercise. If you lose some, but not the whole 25, you can show your dedication. I think that is what they want to see anyway.
Go for it girl! You CAN do this!

Back in January when my dietitian wanted me to lose some weight before surgery I kept a food journal and it really worked. I wrote down everything I ate and drank. I even wrote down the hostess cupcakes I was eating. I would get so mad at myself for eating the wrongs things so I stopped eating them because I didn't want to write it down and get all pissed off. I started eating less and drinking about 80 oz of water a day. On January 4 or 5th I weighed 265 and On March 12th I weighed 244, so It worked out pretty good. I know I could have lost a lot more but the truth is I stopped doing it in the beginning of February only because I didn't have to see the dietitian again.
Try it, It just may work for you as well. Good Luck!
