This is the greatest colleciton of people
Hi everyone;
I just wanted to tell you all how fabulous you are. I am amazed everyday at what I learn here. Thanks so much for answering my questions when I pose them and for sharing your experiences. Without this group I would've felt so alone. It helps so much to hear that other people go through the same things and that confirms that I'm not crazy.
(at least that's what i keep telling myself).
I have a question for those who are about 3 weeks out like I am. Today the nurse at my Doctor's office told me I'm taking in too many calories. I have 2 protein shakes a day made with 1/2 a bannana and skim milk. She says no bananna and no milk. Gotta use water. Also I am apparently not eating enough variety, but I find it hard to get and I'm afraid of overstuffing my pouch. I eat tuna, macaronni and cheese (mostly), cottage cheese and peaches, cream of wheat and yogurt. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheryl

I am 2 weeks out today and have been living on cottage cheese, high protein yogurt, and peanut butter. Recently added crackers to the peanut butter. Tomorrow I meet with the nutritionist to see what else I can have. If I remember from my husbands surgery we can add real food after 2 weeks but I will find out tomorrow.
How bout some scrambled eggs?
Maybe some No Sugar Added Carnation Instant breakfast made with fat free or skim milk? The Simply Smart Milk is aweome!!!! The 0% fat milk taste JUST like 2% I swear! Milk is a good source of protein, why would they say no milk? I'm not sure exactly what you can eat at this point. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and I just graduated to stage 4 today (soft/pureed protein)
I can only have protein for the next couple weeks. This is what my list looks like, canned tuna, canned chicken, imitation crab meat, cottage cheese, fresh fish, turkey and chicken, all have to be very moist. Oh and don't forget the eggs and cheese. Don't know if that helps.

Cheryl - I'm 2 weeks post op (+ a couple of days) and my staple has been Taco Bell's Pintos and Cheese. I go through the drive through and order about 4 of them and I order 1 ground beef taco. I bring my goodies home, open up the taco, get the "salad" off and throw it out (since I can't have lettuce yet!), take 1/4 of the meat, put it in one of the containers of PnC and so on. That way, I get the protein of the beans and a little bit of ground beef. The servings are just right - I don't feel too full - just right, and with a little bit of fat (cheese) in there, it really satisfies you. Try that if you're getting bored with all the other stuff.
Good luck!

Cheryl,
I'm two weeks out today, and I've been having baked fish, moist chicken shredded (with tomato sauce and part skim mozzerella and I have chicken parm), cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs, string cheese, vegie meatballs (not allowed beef yet), various vegies and fruits.
I'm also not allowed pastas or breads or crackers or any of those types of carbs yet. My doc adds them in after week 4.
