UPDATE DAWN PINEDA

I was getting very concerned about her and called her dr's office after so many e-mails went unanswered. Her dr's office couldn't tell me anything and when I flat out asked if she was alive they did tell me she is and offered to get word to her... so I got this email shortly after that call. Thank God for nice staff in these offices!! She went above and beyond...------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi I am Dawn's Daughter April, Dr.Rowitz's office told me you called or someone from her support group. I want to apologize for not contacting you but it has been a very hard 2 weeks. My Mom is recovering she is very weak. Let me explain what happen she was is in the holding room right before her surgery. My Mom had a boil on her back side that was very sore and infected since she did not see Dr. Rowitz's till she was in the holding room the nurse told her to tell him. Well, he exam her an told her she would not be having her gastric bypass surgery today.but would be having surgery for an abscess. The anastelogist told her if she would not have mention it the infection could have spread to her stomach and it could have been fatal. on top of all that when she was in recovery they had a very hard time getting her to wake up. And it frightening her very much she remembers hearing them and trying to wake up but not being able to she was so scared and so were they. Now the Dr. is not sure if this surgery would be good for her. she was only out for 30 to 45 minutes for this surgery they are worried if she is under 3 or 4 hours she might not come out of it. She was in the hospital for 4 days and went to my house she just came home Sunday night. She has decide out this time to rethink her future and the surgery. I want my Mom around so what ever her decision I support her she wanted this so much but I don't think she really thought about the risk. Her family Dr. has told her to try Atkins or weigh****cher and be as determined with it as she was on getting this surgery and she could succeed. maybe as not much weight loss but a healrlier her. She feels like a failure and her brother is making her feel real bad calling her a chicken. Please tell everyone for me Thank you and if you would like to paste this info in the group page feel free too. I hope with ya support she will feel like chatting again soon. I think she feel ya will not understand her change of heart. Thanks so much, April

Kathy, That was so sweet of you to track her down like that. You let her know that We do not think ill of her or think her a chicken. It's a big risk and if the surgeon suggests that it might not be the best choice at this time, then she shouldn't do it. Tell her to feel free to come back any time. Once a Marcher always a Marcher as the saying goes. I completely understand her hesitancy. Whitney

Kathy, thank you so much for finding this information out. That was so nice of you to track her down. Please let her know she will be in our prayers and not to worry about that surgery. If the surgeon says it isn't safe for her then she shouldn't do it but once a marcher always a marcher and I can't wait to see her back.
